i had my engine light on and my atts is on too
i'm not yet overly concern about my atts yet because i know that when the CEL is on, normally the ATTS gets on too because it is very sensitive.
so i did an old school way of checking the code for the problem of why the CEL is on. this is my first time doing it since its not that hard, i decided to do it myself (learning from a good write-up on a toronto prelude club).
however, my problem is, i'm not too sure how to determine what is a long flash and what is a short flash. I received 8 equal duration flash (they are approx 1 sec per flash), that means i'm either getting 8-0 or 0-8 as my code. i know its long flashes than short flashes. so if my 8 flashes are long, then my code is 80 (from 8-0) and if my 8 flashes are short, then my code is 8 (from 0-8). how do i know if my flashes are long or short?
while i was timing my CEL flashing speed, i notice the way my ATTS is flashing is increcibly fast, like 2-3 times each second. so if that kind of flashing speed is fast, then i guess what i have are long duration flashes which indicates i have code 80.
anyone with experience of this old school method?
and by the way, what's up with code 80?
thanks

actually i believe i have a code 80, not 8, because my car is not in limp mode and i can actually smell some bad exhaust
and the blinks looks quite long, because it doesn't go blink like its flashing quickly, it is actually slow like 1 blnk per second
are the egr valve and egr line costly?
