Default Check Engine Light?!?

Well i gutted my cat and now my check engine light is on. I was wondering if there was anyway i could possible get around the check engine light? Also, if I am running a loop does that mean i am running rich and losing HP? I tried to reset my ECU and it didnt do anything. Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks~Doug
P.S. I have a 2001 Electron Blue Prelude, H22A4 ,CAI. KYB's, JDM Headers, Apexi N1, and the gutted catylic converter! Here is a pic of the engine:

I'd love to here the code you get on that check engine light. Why didn't you just buy and test pipe if you where going to gut the cat?

gutting your cat is a bad thing to do since it cost's
like 700$ to replace

Hey (sslude), what exactly is a OBDII? And what is a OBDII/OBDI conversion?

OBD= On board Diagnostics.

You gutted your cat, there is absolutely no way to make it go off. Unless you spend $700.00 on a new one.

yeah you are losing major power, you need to either get a highflow cat or an )2 simulator.

You can get rid of the light with a good O2 simulator. It will trick your ECU in thinking your cat is working. To install this you will need to splice some of your ECU wires. Also $700 for a cat is nuts!!!! You can get them for about $200 or even less. However if you don't want your cat then get a strait pipe don't gut it Or better yet get a high flow cat. Also your going to fail emissions on inspection big time, if your state has emissions that is.

U need a simulator if you using a strait pipe, and an OBDII ECU. It's not 1 or the other, it's both.

So either way i am going to need the test pipe and the stimulator?!! What if i decided to go with the high flow-cat. Would i still need the stimulator or would that be all i needed?!

simulator... not stimulator... if you get a test pipe, you need an o2 simulator... if you use your gutted cat, you will need an o2 simulator... if you get a high flow cat, you will not need to use an o2 simulator.

Oh ok...sorry about the typo! And what does that simulator actually do and where do you find somthing like that? And (phryxis) personally what would be the best way to go?

do a search on google to find out a place that will have it... just search for "o2 simulator" i found one real quick at this place: http://www.clubgpstore.com/itemview.asp?itemid=34

you would (theoretically) get the best gains with just a test pipe, but that would mean you would fail emissions, and would basically be illegal... i am going to be running a high flow cat from car sound. good luck

Thanks (phryxis)! So what kinda of high flow cat are you looking to get? I have decided that a high flow cat would be the safest way to go

I am under the impression that an O2 Simulator is only needed for OBDII? So I would not need one for my 93 SI if I chose to use a test pipe?

Oh thats cool, but that seems to be a lot of work if you ask me! I think i might just go with a high flow cat! This will be better and more efficient for me because i do not have a lot of time on my hands.
