Default Check Engine Light

I just recently bought a 99 Prelude. 2 days ago my check engine light came on. I know on Acuras and Hondas, if the gas cap isn't tight then the light comes on. However, it is on, oil is good, and nothing really seems to be messed up. The other day, while in park the engine kept revving. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. The local Honda dealership doesn't really have a clue.

Reset your computer. Take the negative battery wire off for awhile, and then put it back on..Start your car, and see if the light comes back on. Sometimes you just need to reset the computer. If it comes back on, see what code it is throwing by counting the number of times it flashes

Follow these directions. Then come back and tell us the code and we can make suggestions.

Had the same problem your talkin bout. only mine was throwing both ATTS, SRS and Malfunction Indc. had my ignition replaced (recall) and honda checked it for me and said it was a vacuum leak and low bat. fixed both, no more problems for a month now..Whenever you pull your bat to reset your car may turn it on later saying you have a low bat, so watch out for that.
