that definitely does NOT look waterproof. two years ago my drains got clogged and floated my car w/ over an inch of water. this is just begging for more trouble. +1 for weight reduction but idno if this is that practical for a street/daily driver. hell if we were going for weight reduction i'd rather fab up something to manually crank open the sunroof like manual windows. =P too bad i love my sunroof too much. especially during this time of the year. my brother is so lucky to have an s2k..

I believe I'd rather remove everything and just weld in some metal and grind it so it looks like there never was anything there to begin with (Like the Type S). Might not be quite as lightweight and having a CF plug but it flows better IMO and would definitely be water proof. To each his own though.

yeah , I have also seen these full roof covers for Integras. They cover the entire roof and it looks much better than a plug. Not knocking the product, my buddy has one on his 5th gen. I just love the glass roof he sold me out of his car. It looks much better in mine.

I'm going to agree with you on that this does not look waterproof. I think that is about 100% due to the fact that the permenant seal has not been installed yet as shown in the pics above. I have had several customers go through automatic car washes with no problems. Unlike the factory moveable unit water doesn't ever get to the drain tubes so that is not an issue. The seal works fine.

It more a question of cost, with decent paint youare over $300 not including any body work. Then you add on the cost of the choppig out a donor roof, welding it in, bondo, you have something that cannot be reversed, and like y ousaid it is heavier. To do a decent job this wil end up costing quite a bit more than a plug and the doller per poound of weight savings ratio goes up. Yah I get the point it will flow better but this is for weight reduction mainly. The other issue about looks is that a lot of sunroof glass I see has a tint and looks black already so the carbon doesn't look much different than that from a few feet away.

No he's talking about welding in sheet metal. You are talking about the composite roof caps that used to be sold by Composites Fab (now out of business). That also weighs more than our kit and you would pay about $7-800 for the cap shipped and you had to trim it yourself and glue that on your entire roof but they did look nice. Again the doller to weight lost ratio goes up which isn;t good when you are trying to drop weight. I have heard the "I love my sunroof" argument for years and I get it completely but some people never use their sunroof and would rather have the weight savings. I don't see that there is anything to argue about really. It is what it is and weight loss and comfort or looking like a show car are usually at opposite ends of the spectrum when people set the goals for their car. It's like saying a horse sucks at laying eggs, well yes but that isn't what they were designed to do. You want eggs get a chicken. When someone slaps a turbo on their car how many times does the conversation focus on fuel economy, not much. The reasoon they put the turbo on is to have fun and go fast, they could care less what the mpg is during a race, lol

yo do you have something to were like you could un-clip it and clip it back on.

like un-clip it and take it off, then either put it in your garage or in your car to act like a sunroof on hot days, but then clip it back on for days where your not using your sunroof. kinda like a removable hardtop. i think that would be badass...exspecially for a 4th gen

Not really, you would run into sealing problems with something like that most likely. Any seal that you could pull out so quickly would probably leak. Once that issue is solved I'm sure they hardware could be worked out. I think you would get pretty sick of pulling your headliner to make the change all the time anyway. Good idea but difficult to make it happen.

Without the plug in place, the air traveling over the opening causes severe vibrations to the roof. You would need a wind deflector and possibly add'l support on the rear portion of the opening. I had to drive under 50mph and with one hand sticking out the front middle part of the opening to prevent going deaf from the vibrations.

wouldn't taking out th sunroof and rails weaken the rigidity of the chassis and cause flexing as you turn.

Well I doubt the factory sunroofs lend much to chassis rigidity. I think if the chassis depended on the sunroof for rigidity too much you would run into problems with the sunroof binding over time as it was opened and closed. All the chasis I've dept with have a pretty thick sunroof flange around the sunroof opening in the roof to try and keep it rigid. Most cars just have 4 little bolts holding the tracks and panel in. You also have some play in the tracks themselves so there is already some slop built in to the system.

On a side note most of the guys that install these are racing their cars and have a cage anyway so the extra weight up high is just slowing them down.

In a street car even if you do loose a little chassis rigidity I think you more than make up for that by dropping a huge amount of wieght from the highest point on the car. It's funny most of the posts are people saying "what about this or that" when all this is designed to do is help you go faster by replacing the heavy OEM unit. Are there compromises and trade-offs, yes of course but that is true of every part that gets put on a car. I'll leave the rest of the responses to Kool-Lude.
