CEL update
A week ago, I received a CEL, code 22 which has to something to do with the VTEC control system, specifically the VTEC pressure switch. I followed the Helms manual in determing if it is the VTEC Pressure Switch.
1. Check the resistance of the 1P terminal (gray terminal connector off the VTEC Solenoid).
I used a voltmeter and the the resistance was within the factory specifications.
2. Inspect the VTEC Solenoid Valve filter.
Filter was not clogged
3.Push the VTEC solenoid valve with your finger and check its movement.
Movement is normal.
The Helms advised if the above three were fine, the next step is to check the oil pressure.
I'm left to the 2 following solutions
1. Buy an oil pressure guage and mount it on the dash and monitor the pressure.
2. Buy a new VTEC Pressure switch, which cost 75 bucks.
If I was to buy a new switch, is the CEL code suppose to go away, or am I suppose to reset the ECU?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
D
