Default CEL code 9 H22

Problem: Code 9 No.1 cylinder position sensor

So my car now has a cel 9 I went thru the manual and i just want to confirm with you guys that im testing the distributor the correct way. and that I need to replace my distributor...

1. disconect the 2 wire conector and check to see the resistance..

manual says it has to be 700-1000

but mines is only at 425 according to meter if im doing it correctly.

DO I HAVE IT ON THE RIGHT SETTINGS ??

RESULTS:

according to the manual if it doesnt meet spec then i should replace the cyp ...

in one of the pictures from manual it looks like they tested the actual sensor from inside so i open it up and fallow the wire by color and tested them out but i ended getting shock LOL

remove cap

remove the screw that holds the rotor

remove cap

onces inside. you find the sensor

I tested the

BCK/YLW wire
Blue wire...

but didnt get a reading just a shock LOL

I think I paid $175ish for a distributor king one. I don't remember for sure tho.

Distributor king rebuilds them, if this is a street or street/strip car, you should be fine with a rebuilt, if you're high hp strip/race car, get an OEM one.

Edit:
Looks like DK is out of business for the time being, citing quality issues with the Chinese ones they were getting.

Not sure what year your lude is, but my '92-'96 manual says to test the 8p connector, not the 2p.

Also, did you try resetting the ecu to see if the code comes back?

the wires you want to test are in the other connector....I just went through the test on my dads car but dont remember what the color codes are....

I went through the testing and everything checked out....According to the manual you also disconnect the ECU connector and run the same resistance check between the two wires which basically checks all of the wiring from ECU to the dizzy. Then check the wiring for a connection to ground which should read OL.

I hope you get an answer we replaced the dizzy on his car but it didn't fix it...more than likely a connection problem or ECU problem because it usually takes about 9 drive cyles before it sets.
