i have a 5th gen and the engine light came on and when i read it it was P1456 evap emmission control system leak detected (fuel tank). i also found a tsb on it but cant narrow down exactly what it might be. the tsb # is 010402. i know the feul cap is on tight because i know it will give a cel. could the cap be bad or am i missing something?

I searched and found that you "might" get this CEL if you were filling up while the car was running or you might have a leaking gas cap.
I say reset your cel and see if it comes back on. If it does, you can get your gas cap tested at your local emmisions place.

we always get p1456's coming into the shop. 99% of the time it's an un-tightened gas cap. could also be the seal on the cap that seals it up to the car. sounds like you cleared the code which is the first thing you should do. if it pops back up, look at the cap seal and see if it's still good(not too squished). replace the cap if needed. it's not too expensive.

found out today the cap was bad and replaced it. i cleared the code and so far so good, thanks for the help guys.
