Default car keeps stalling HELP!

My recently aquired 92 Prelude S 2.2L SOHC has a bit of a problem. It starts and idles just fine, but if I even touch the accelerator, whe I let go, the revs will drop and the car will stall immediately. If I'm driving it, and I keep my foot on the accelerator it's fine. As soon as I attempt to come to a stop it dies.

The battery is fine, I tested it.....and my alternator has a nice strong output. I thoroughly cleaned the battery terminals too. It has a new distrbutor, with a recently replaced Distributor cap and rotor button. The air filter is not new, but it's not bad. the spark plugs are semi-recent and don't look bad. The pug wires are pretty old, and probably need to be repaced. I changed the water pump, timing belt, balance belt, both belt tensioners and 3 oil seals last week. The PCV valve is new. I tried disconnecting the Idle Air Control Valve while the engine was running, and it stalled.......could this be my problem?

Im new to honda's but yeah it does sound like a lazy IAC valve/motor. try creating a vacuum leak when you let go of the pedal (maybe disconnect the PCV valve?) and see if it stays running, than I would think that it is just the IAC valve not opening fast enough and choking the motor.....as I said though, I am new to honda's so good luck.

Friend just went through the exact same symptoms. After looking over his engine I said let me check your timing man. Sure enough his timing was way to retarded. Advance your timing a bit and report back!

Well, the timing was bang-on........I actually had to advance it quite a bit to keep the engine running. So now it's way advanced.

I'm pretty sure that it's caused by a screwed-up intake valve. One cylinder has very low compression, and the rest are fine. I did a leak down test, and that one cylinder was blowing a ton of air back out of the intake port, while at TDC on the compression stroke.

The spark plug from that cylinder is badly fouled too, unlike the rest. Me and a buddy are going to pull the head off this weekend, and I'll get a valve job done if necessary.
