my car back fires whenever i let off the gas and it only happens at low rpms (1000 rpm). i did a tune up thinking it was the spark plugs, but i still back fires. what else should i check? would an exhaust leak cause this? thank for any reply.

 

do you have an exhuast system? what about a catalytic converter??

 

double check your misfiring system it may be faulty :D

 

which plugs are you running? Usually when you are backfiring it is due to running rich. My car backfires like a ****.

 

check your timing too, when mine was retarded badly it was backfiring like crazy.

ill check the timing tomorrow, the plugs and wires are from honda

 

could you explain why it back fires with no cat? Because of the extra exhaust gases (fuel)not being stopped by the **** in the cat?
