Can this cause future problems???

Default Can this cause future problems???

93 h23... I was checking under my hood because i saw some blue smoke coming from the engine bay and found this bolt half way in the block. check pics below. could this be causing my smoking problem (doubt it but worth asking), what future problems am i looking at from this, and what would be the safest one to get it back in place?? took pix with cell phone sorry if they suck.

Looks like its suppose to hold teh starter in place but i'm new to all this so any input would help.

it won't cause any problems, but that's a bolt that connects your tranny to your motor. I'd just put it back in

HOLY ****! that's a bell housing bolt.( keeps the engine attached to the transmission) But it back in, you should be able to start it by hand unless whoever forgot to install it fucked up the threads.

Thanks man, i'll do that any ideas on the smoke issue.. i'm currently searching to see what i get but so far nothing.

Blue smoke usually means oil burning. Clean that nasty engine and maybe it will go away.

will do.. planned on doing that this weekend, along with a head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket change.

this bolt has nothing to do with the oil burning.

whats funny is that my bolt was like that too when i got my car back from the shop a few years ago.

I don't have a bolt there right now and no problems.
