Default Cam Help

Hi I need some help regarding camshafts.

I am building a h22a4 engine right now at 11.5 to 1 compression. My bottom end has been sleeved by Benson and I am running a CP pistons and eagle rods. Everything has been balanced including the crank by Laskey racing. As for the head, it has been ported and polish by Endyn. I have a Crower strings and retainers and Supertech 0.5mm over-sized valves. The head is well in the 2 grand region of work that has been done on it. It has all brass valve guides and seats with a five angle valve job.

I am looking for a set of cams for this set up. Keep in mind that I will be running this engine on the street year round so I dont want anything too aggressive but something that will still make 20 more whp (and if possible something easier to tune).

I am looking at either brian crower stage 2's or skunk2 tuner stage 2's. However I have heard some problems about the crower cams snapping. I know the brian crowers are a different brand but wondering if any problems like this have been happening with them?

Any help would be appreciated

you wont likely see 20whp w/ the s2tuner2's. If you are looking for 20whp look into the s2pro1's. W/ the CR your running those cams are ideal for your set-up and will be fine for daily driving.

Yeah except skunk said that there scared about clearance issues because of my oversized valves?

i have heard of people using 1mm oversized valves and s2pro2's worked. Jun cams should have good cam choices for your valves. Clay your motor and see where your at or dont use the oversized valves. .5mm not too big, lets see what others have to say

0.5 mm is not that big at all... As for the jun cams, well i cant afford them..... Back to the brian crower, has any one used them? Any dyno results?
Any problems with the cams breaking?

I have crowers on my car and I like them, I have not put the car on the dyno to see what kind of numbers they gave me, im still running a stock tune for now, its hard for me to say what I got out of them as of yet but they haven't snapped, from what I read that snapping issue was resolved long ago

Keep in mind what your op said. You are looking for streetable cams using .5mm valves and looking for 20whp gain. S2pro2's work w/ 1mm oversized so why wouldn't pro1's work w/ .5mm? Dont be concerned w/ cams snapping regardless of brand. Its 2011 and cam technology has grown in regards to strength testing. Wouldn't worry too much w/ around the 240whp you'll be making, snapping a camshaft.
