A/C Removal
Hey everyone I am deciding to remove my A/C from my 4th Gen Prelude, has anyone tackled this problem? I hear there is some dangers involved, or thats at least what Chilton's says.
Anyways if any of you know how to or know if it is dangerous to do it let me know thanks.

Oh yeah I am pretty sure it has a leak because I recharged it and it went to warm air in like 20 minutes, would I still have to get someone to depressurize the unit? Just want to make sure nothing goes shooting at me like crazy rockets

i just did this like 2 weeks ago... you'll need a new alternator belt. ask your honda parts guy for a alternator belt from a Prelude S w/o A/C. they might have to order it
1. take bolts out of the power steering pump, disconnect the fat power steering hose (carefully, itll spill) and move the power steering pump out of the way. (dont completely remove it, just move it out of the way)
2. take out the bolts from the cruise control, disconnect 1 or 2 vacuum lines and set that aside (again, dont completely remove it, just move it out of the way)
3. take out the alternator completely
4. now remove the 4 bolts from the compressor, theres two up top and 2 down below, get at the ones below from under the car its easier. also disconnect the two A/C lines from the compressor
5. you can also take out the compressor braket... it weighs like 5lbs
6. if you're hardcore you'll be like me and take out the A/C fan which is the fan on the driver side.
7. you can also take out the condenser by removing the radiator brakets, removing all things connected to the condenser (its all on the passenger side of the condenser) and then pushing the top of the radiator towards the firewall and pulling the condenser out.
8. now you can remove your front bumper and wiggle all the A/C lines out of the car. and the dryer also.
this is where my compressor was:

that ***** weighed in at 14lbs fyi
and heres a pic from the front without the A/C lines:

i took mine out b/c my compressor seized up and im too cheap to replace something so expensive (how ironic that ill be paying for an h22 with misc. parts that ill need in the coming weeks lol)
its pretty easy but it takes a while. have fun!
