A/C problem
Okay, I searched but didn't find anything for this problem
On my 92 Prelude my A/C fan blows fine, but the air coming out is not cold. The heater works badass, and when I'm going fast the air gets a little colder, but thats just coming in from the outside air.
A few weeks ago I replaced the control panel housing (just the plastic piece with vents), and I'm thinking maybe the two plugs that plugged in to the bottom of the control panel didn't correct properly, but I'm pretty sure they did, because of the loud 'click' and the fact that everything else regarding the button functions works, it's just that the air being blown is not cold.
Someone has told me I just need it recharged or something, any other possible causes?
TIA, I dont know **** when it comes to A/C and cooling stuff

I'm having a similar problem. In the morning, after my car's been sitting in the garage I can start her up and click the A/C on and it works just fine (A/C light comes on and all). After she's been sitting in the parking lot for a few hours, I turn the A/C on but all it does is blow air. The A/C light doesn't even come on. I know there's enough coolant so maybe a sensor or bad connection? Or something to do with sitting in the heat for a while? I really have no idea. I've been having the worst luck with Honda A/C systems. First, my '93 Civic POS (which pretty much just exploded on me. Now, my '94 Prelude Vtec...
Anybody else had this problem/know how to deal with it?
Like I said, I know very little about A/C stuff, I'd hate to take it to some shop and get reamed for them to do stuff that didn't need to be done

1. check to see if you have enough freon. you can so this by checking the round glass indicator on your freon line. it is located right next to the air filter and battery. it looks like this -----[0]------, where the ---- are the aluminum a/c lines and the 0 is the glass indicator surrounded by [ ] which are metal base. turn on your car, and then turn on your a/c. at first, you'll see some turbulence in this indicator, with bubbles and what not. after about a minute though, you should see no turbulence and zero bubbles. if you continue to see bubbles or even worse, the turbulence does not stop, you don't have enough freon.
2. your situation sounds just like mine. so there is a chance you have no leaks and you have enough freon. if process above indicates that you have enough freon, you most likely have a tired compressor that needs to be replaced. mine blows cold when outside temp is less than 75 degrees but if it has been parked in the sun too long and outside temp is 80 or higher, it has trouble putting out "cold" air into the cabin. this is one of the sure signs of a tired compressor.
i will probably never replace the compressor since it costs about $400 and up just for the part and i live in southbay area in socal where the weather rarely exceeds 80 degrees. but if you live in a hotter climate, it's a worthy $400+ (you need to have a shop evac and charge your system when you replace the compressor) investment.
