Default Burning Cat?

Just finished up a 93 SI turbo, lots of smoke coming out of the cat, maybe the high EGT is killing the cat, never had this problem with a turbo car before, any ideas?? Has this happened to anyone else out there? Also m dripping what looks like motor oil, i check everyfitting and can't figure out where it is coming from, looks like it is from somewhere in front of motor, not the turbo return line thou, or head/ oil pan gasket either, any ideas

It is quite possible the oil seal on your turbo has took a **** on you, that will cause excessive amounts of smoke through your exhaust. Or is it coming specifically from your cat? If so, then i bet money that you're leaking oil where you T'd your oil feed line into your oil pressure sensor. Whatever you do, don't run your engine when you know you have an oil problem... You are just asking to get royally butt fucked.

what exact color is the smoke? black plumes would indicate running VERY rich

what color is the smoke?
white=burning antifreeze, headgasket, turbo seal
black=burning gas, too rich
blue=burning motor oil, piston rings

how many mile you have on the car, how many mile you been boosting?
fuel management?(vafc?), how many pound you pushing?
that's alot of crap can go wrong.

could be posible that your just burning off all the extra oil left from the leak... all you can do on that one is wipe clean and hope that its gone.
i have a feeling that your NOT buring your cat. trust me... you will know when that happens. when your cat starts burning away, it smells like roting eggs. ive said that a burning clutch is bad.... damn, you havnt lived untill you smell a catylitic converter.
everything has a specific smell when it burns. smell the smoke next time. do you know what burning oil smells like? poor alittle on your header after your car warms up.... its a good smell, kinda reminds me of home....

I don't think its extra oil..... because i'm still leaving spots on my driveway... and it looks like its throwing all over the underside because there are multiple spots, not just 1 or 2 big ones... but a bunch of small ones... it only happens when i drive it really hard.....same deal with the cat, it only has smoke coming out of it FRONT and BACK after a good few hard passes down the street, i think the oil pan gasket is still bad so i ordered a new one, but that still doesn't explain why the cat is burning so much like that.... the smoke is a little bit oil from the oil pan, but the majority is pouring out of the cat... looks like a white-ish brown smoke... doesn't smell like oil or coolant...... and what oil seal are u guys talking about..... i think m still missing it!!!........ motor has 1500 miles..... fully built.... boosting only around 6psi still...... avc-r and safc.. vortec fmu.. yada yada yada

ok..... i looked at it again....... this time on a lift... should of done that the first time but o well...... now to further complicate things.... i poped the radiator so now i have, oil smoke, cat smoke, and coolant smoke.... coolant smoke is no problem, have a new pwr sittin here, was gonna wait to put it in, but not anymore! .... its gotta be the turbo return line(from bottom of turbo to oil pan) or the damn oil pan gasket..... the turbo line is really tight, yet its covered in oil, and the oil is being thrown all the way back on the car, which leads me to believe it the turbo return line, but its tight, really tight..... i'll try replacing the gasket again...... i don't get this ****... i have the same setup as this car and never had any of the problems.... any other ideas?

sounds like you have the problem solved. gaskets look like the cause.
the best thing to do for sure, is to pressure wash the entire undercarrage of the car and acouple days later... or hours.... lift the car again and see if your can locate where the oil is coming from.
good luck
