Default Brake Lamp Sensor?

the sensor comes on from time to time as i drive? my tail lights are not out so what does this mean?

Edit : My brakes are squeaking a lot..i guess the sensor is because of old, worn brake pads?

the sensor doesnt sense your brake pads. what year lude you got? discribe how your driving to make it come on from time to time... it will come on if your brake light is burning out, but not burnt out yet. if your brake light is flickering so will the brake lamp.

as said before, check your brake fluid level too. is it full, does it need to be changed?

from what i gather, youre talking about the red "brake lamp" light on the dash in a 4th gen....this is tripped by having one of the brake bulbs out, and since you said it flickers on and off it makes me think you have a bulb or connector that is loose, check all of the bulbs and connectors, if you have a spoiler light, check that too.....when the headlights are on, but not on the brakes, your two taillights should be dim and the red sidemarkers should be on....then have someone press the brakes, the spoiler light should come on(if you have one), the above the window "3rd" brake lights should come on, theres two bulbs in that thing....and the taillights should get bright....if any of these is wrong post up which one and we'll go from there
