which block with which tranny should I go for?
I got a 2k type-sh. I want to look for a block to build on, piston, rods, and sleeves. My question is which block should I use? I'm thinking I should stick with a h22a4 base block, but what are the disadvantages of going with a h23? Obviously no v-tec, but isn't it true that high hp turbo motors don't use v-tec anyways? Also which tranny? I'm hearing a longer gear ratio lets you stay in boost longer, which I understand but I'm not trying run a hugh laggy turbo either so would even benifit from a longer geared tranny?

Because you have a TypeSH, only the US TypeSH or jdm TypeS block will mate to your original tranny. If you use an H23 or "regular" H22a block, you will need to change at least your tranny and axels as well (and possibly some other suspension components also - not 100% sure there).

IMO, definitly don't get an H23A1.
With Hondata and some tuning, VTEC can be just as good with a high output Turbo motor.

id go w/h22a1...closed deck, if u stay obd 2 get a 96, if u go obd 1 get 93-95, the tranny w/lsd is m2b4, it is jdm h22 tranny. i dont know if i go for that whole longer geared tranny stuff or not, maybe it feels faster cause u dont have to shift as quick, but only #'s will tell what is quicker.
you could put h23 crank and rods in h22 to make it a 2.3, or im looking into the new deck plates w/custom rods and pistons from golden eagle, it can be used to create a great r/s ratio, or to stroke the hell out of it, or a little of both as i plan on doing. they talk about it in the fi section, and im e-mailing vince about it this week.
