Best Preformance part!!!!!
I have a 1994 Si Vtec, just purchased it, I got a great deal on it. I am looking to add some "punch" What is the best performace part I can purchase if im on a budget? Intake? exhaust? headers? Any info would be really appreciated.
there is a faq on this which will cover everything you need.
with h-series, cheap and lots of gains don't come in the same sentence
the actual best performance part is a helms manual. seems like everyone needs one

Damn straight. Forbidden SS was the best thing I've spent money on my prelude also.

its all preference, heavy ***** get more momentum and slam into gear easier, lighter ***** all you more feel by making you do the work instead of the weight of a ****, i feel that light ***** are more precise feeling, i like my razo, its about 35g or somehting like that....

Sucks you didn't get the h23 in it. I/H/E would run you approx. 1500 (for a nice setup) and you'd be walkin' vtecs. That's mainly due to the highly restrictive exhaust manifold on the nonvtec, which, when replaced with a higher flowing one, you can very well see AT LEAST a 10whp gain. Oh well, at least you have VTACK! lol, jk. Way to go, welcome to the prelude family!

Ya but I have never seen an H23 that can even hang with an H22. Last time at the track I "walked" an H23 with I/H/E and I have I/H/E and stupid tuned Apexi V-AFC Ver. I.
It's basic facts you should look at. H22A1 = 190HP from factory. H23A1 = 160HP from factory. Need I say more really?
And there's several H22 owners making 200WHP with I/E and RMF Header.

well if a megan header will give you 10 hp........how does that make up the rest of the hp you need to get over the h22??? idiot

MY h23 went 15.02 4years ago aem intake kamikaze header and tanabe exhaust when I had one. I rebuilt and sold that motor to my buddy Chris with usdm h22 pistons and stainless valves(N20) as the only up grade. it went 14.43 @94mph on the motor with an S afc. Most H22's I see in prelude barely run that good if at all. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean its not out there.
No I am not bashing H22's I have one in my tracklude coming out shortly I am just stating my personal experience with h23's I love the tq

An exhaust and an intake really don't help much power wise, other than an cold air intake bringing cold air to other places of the engine. Headers is the only things that can help you gain a little bit of power. When I started, the first thing I did was lower my car with Tein Coilover Conversions.
...if you dont get more air into the intake manifold and therefore into the engine then you cant mix more fuel to make more power to exit through a whatever header...how will just putting on the middle part help with a restrictive breathing system? the whole system works as one not just one part
94LudeDude: what do you mean by punch? if its the butt dyno, get a turbo or nitrous, then you will "feel the punch." if you decide to go the more balanced route, try freeing up the breathing system i/im/h/e and move on to headwork=ported, port matched, throttle body, valve job, valvetrain, cams ect. it will be longer but all good things take time.
