Default Battery Light on

I have a weird problem. I needed to change the alternator today and after I was done, the battery light came on. It turns out that I needed a new battery also and I also changed that. I drove it for the whole day already and it is still on. Can someone tell me WHY the stupid light is still on? I checked all the connection, the power, ground, etc. and everything seems to be fine. Thanks for the help.

I don't think that would be something that takes a few drive cycles to reset...odd

Did you tension the belt enough? It could be slipping.

i was going to say make sure all your connections on the alternator are good and tight. Typically the battery light will come on if it senses the alternator not charging the battery. This can also be tripped falsely by a loose connection at the "monitoring" plug of the alternator

did you check the voltage the new alternator is putting out? check voltage on the alternator and at the battery.
