Automatic Shifter (brake?) problem
When I push the brake in it does not release the shifter. To put the car into any gear I have to use the emergency *keyhole* shift. I was wondering if there is a fuse, relay, or anything else that would make this not work. I have tried 2 different switches at the brake side and 3 different switches at the shifter side and all combonations of them and nothing has worked. Any one have any ideas?
well by any chance did u mess with your tps sensor? when i installed mine once i guess i installed it to advanced or something and it wouldnt let me put the car in gear nither and i guess if your brakes light arent working then that sensor is damaged which i guess is the same switch that controls the shift release
Brake lights work OK. I was checking under the dash to see what else the wires plug into and it looks like a few of the wires off the brake switch go into a redish orange box. Looked on my JDM front clip and cant find it on the drivers side at least.
When u press the brake down it should release a lock near the shifter, underneath the center console, take the plastic center console pieces apart and u should be able to see it, it's a plastic lock that's suppose to release when the brake is pushed, once u find it u can unlock it manually.
Yeah Ive had the center console off for that reason. Im trying to find a fix so I can put the console back in and have it functioning as it should. Any one have any more thoughts as per why the brake lights would work and the shift release wouldnt?
