ATTS question
I'm looking at a 99 SH that needs a bit of work. My two main concerns are the check engine light and ATTS light are on.
The owner says that the Honda dealer blames the lights on after market mods.
Car has the following mods:
DC headers, chip (unsure of brand), CAI, catback exhaust.
The car drives fine. Engine sounds good. Basically no indications of engine/ATTS problems.
I know exhaust, chip, etc can easily cause a check engine light. My question is, can the mods also cause the ATTS light? Or is it something else that I should be wary of?
I do plan to do a full PPI, however I have a feeling that any typical shop isn't going to know anything about the ATTS....
Finally, can anyone in the Orlando area recommend a Honda shop that can do a PPI?

When the ECU throws a code it goes into "lockout" thus freaking the ATTS ECU out and giving you the ATTS light as well.
Id stay away from it just for the fact its been "chipped".

i'd say you're fine with ALL of the mods that you listed, other than that chip. get rid of it ASAP and go back to a stock ECU. with I/H/E, there's no need to screw up the stock settings...
honda doesn't hire stupid people to build their cars... there's no need to try to reprogram the computer unless you have some serious boost, high compression, or anything else that is radically different than a stock setup.
hope that helps... i'd try a stock ecu, reset the CEL, and see if it stays. if not, check your wiring and fuses to the ATTS.
have a good one.
EDIT: just read that you haven't purchased this yet... i'd tell the dealer to put a stock ECU in it before you'll buy it... even then i would be weary of buying a car that has been chipped... you know it was some kid who beat the hell out of it.

It is a kid that beat the hell out of it. However, he's willing to sell it for $4,500.00 with 101k miles and it's a 99 model. In addition to the problems I described here, the car needs a full repaint due to about 12 dings/dents of various sizes and severe fading. The headlights are also severely yellowed, the wheels have a ridiculously bad spray paint job.
I'm estimating $2,500.00 to repaint the car, new wheels, etc to get the car back into good condition. Of course, this doesn't take any possible mechanical problems into account.
Here's a pic for reference:
