Default ATTS issues... need HELP!

Hello... I am new to the forum and looking to buy my first Prelude. Have my signts on a SH, but the ATTS doesn't work on the car.

A previous owner toyed with it, tried to install some custom wiring and, according to the dealership, managed to splice the ATTS and ABS wires. Dealer recommended changing the entire harness... for starters.

Wondering if anyone else has had such an experience and if it can possibly interfere with driving and performance in general?

Would such an issue also interfere with ABS... ABS light is not on on the dash... ATTS is... any thoughts?

It's a significant investment and I would like some input as to whether it is a good idea... don't want to get saddled with expensive repairs.

Any place I can find a directory of mechanics (other than dealers) who can work on such cars and fix such problems... searched the net with no luck... am in MN.

Input will be highly appreciated... time's running out.

The car will still run, it just won't have the ATTS. If it's a good deal, you can always replace the harness with the money you save. I love my SH. I'm just disappointed with the lack of engine management options that preserve the ATTS functionality. (sigh...)

put it this way, i purchased my 97 SH with 67k on the clock in perfect running order in october 04 for $9500. If the price is anywhere near there dont bother with it.
I looove my SH, I speed up when I come to curves and turns.

if you wanted to, you could always rip it out and throw in a base tranny. It would cut about 50lbs or so. That ATTS unit is heavy. I was going to do a custom ATTS conversion on a 4th gen, but backed out because of the weight gain. I still have the ATTS unit sitting around somewhere.

i would take out the ATTS unit completely and use the extra money to put in a LSD (limited slip differiental) gear in the tranny. Something to think about.

Beware you cant just rip out your atts, and SH tranny and replace it with a base tranny.. you have to have a custom fab a adapter plate for the intermidate drive shaft. The shop in my area doesnt recommend it because it can be unstable/unsafe. Just my 2c. If you are planning on going over 250hp to the wheels just get a base model you will save money in the long run. But yea, if your atts light is it just means that your tranny is working like a base tranny.
