Default 96 Srv problems

i have a 96 SRV, and when i hit the vtec range the acceleration actually slows down, it starts screaming like it used to, but there is no acceleration gain, or when i'm in 5th gear on the highway and downshift to 4th, the car starts jumping almost i get zero power and this jumping feeling i have no idea what is wrong with it, i don't know if its the tranny, or the engine or what...

i did blow my header not to long ago and had to buy a dc header because i didn't have the cash for anything better, and not to long after i put that on i've been having this problem...
any insight on this or any help would be appreciated... thank you

Check your oil level. Could be you're just low on oil = no VTEC. If that's fine, clean the screen on the VTEC solenoid. It gets dirty over time and VTEC won't kick like it used to
