96 prelude si h23 obd2 swap?
So I got an h23a1 1996 prelude si, its got the ms24 tranny blah blah blah, now alot of **** I read is verrryyyy contradictive because my car is obd2 and I don't want to reroute to obd1 as too I live in california, so what's a better swap, and a straight swap, im the only old honda especially a prelude in siskiyou and I'm not vtec but I smash on ppl, but considerable swaps
1. H22 but what would I fully need to swap
2. The h23 vtec
lmk plz

Re: 96 prelude si h23 obd2 swap?
for H23 vtec and F20B you need to go OBD1
for H22 you need manual ecu, you can use your current transmission if you want so you only need H22 engine (with or without transmission) and ecu.
If you get JDM engine you need to change USDM H22 distributor, oilpump, intake manifold etc to your JDM H22 swap engine to use it with USDM H22 ecu
You can also make it work with JDM ecu but you could need also engine harness with it then
Also its wise to do some maintenance rebuilding to your swap engine - seals, gaskets, timing stuff, clutch etc
OR then just rebuild your current engine - swap costs maybe more than that

Why you want to replace your h23 if its builded already (or is it rebuilded with stock components)? You wont notice much differnce with H22 so its waste of money if theres nothing wrong with your current engine (if its not rebuilded with stock components your tune is way off if youre using your stock obd2 ecu with aftermarket components)
USDM H22A4 99-01 is little bit better than the previous ones. You might end up with worse engine what you have there now if your rebuild has been done properly

Everything is upgraded. JDM cams, type S pistons and so on - you have to drop K-serie engine into Prelude to make it quick

If you use it with obd2 euro r ecu it needs engine harness with it or/and some electrical work since prelude is OBD2A and R engine is from Accord OBD2B. Otherwise you have to convert it to OBD1 and get Hondata or other method to get it custom tuned/mapped
and of course you need to do maintenance rebuild
