Re: (98TypeSH)
hey - have you noticed your car doesnt hesitate until it warms up? Mine never does cold, then once its fully warmed up, bucking central.
Idles at 600 usually after warmed up and all, if I have the ac on especially tho, if I rev in neutral it goes way down to like 200rpm then catches itself and goes back to 600.
Also noticed one day when i hit the gas really quick, like quick taps in neutral revving after i have been driving, itll sometimes rev DOWN! before it goes up.
Weird ****.

Re: (psilo)
my car is fine in the cold weather but has less low end than a civic in the summer. it seems ignition and weather related.
i was looking at a schematic of a distributor and i noticed the ignition control module has a heat sink. what would happen if the heat sink went bad? i'm thinking that in hot weather, the ICM wouldn't get enough cooling and would give bad readings to the ecu, thus causing hesitation problems.

Re: (justanotherlude)
how can all these 97-01 preludes be having problems with a knock sensor? Just doesnt sound probable to me.
this is weird, still dont know what it is. everyone checked their plugs? running rich ??

Re: (ACCH22)
Alright, I have no clue what the hell I'm looking at. I'm using the Bosch Platinum 2 plugs. The center between the two electrodes is white, the two electrodes are brown at the tips, and the base of the electrodes has black carbon build up.

Re: (ACCH22)
bring the post back from the dead...
Update:
my car is hestitating only when i put gas in it. for example, today i had less than 1/4 tank and since it's cold outside, it's running like a bat out of hell. i pulled into the gas station filled her up and pulled out and accelerated with about 1/2 throttle and it bogged. this has happened to me at least 3 times.
so, what is different on our cars when the tank is full as opposed to it being close to empty? it doesn't really make sense to me but that's what it's doing. i'm thinking it's fuel related. do you gain fuel pressure when you put more gas in the tank? maybe i have a really small hole or leak in a fuel line and to much pressure forces fuel out of the line.
i dunno, i'm confused as all hel. maybe you guys can make something of it.

Re: (yOnKiNaToR)
Its possible it could be fuel pump related. This is still really weird. At least in my case, it didnt matter how much gas i had in my tank, full, empty it would do it right at 3K. At this point i am totaly stumped. Have you had all your injectors tested or cleaned? ran some fuel system cleaner ? i dunno, im just shootin in the dark now.

Re: (98TypeSH)
I had a similar problem like this, except it would hesitate and run like **** until I hit VTEC, and it would do it intermittently....So one wonderful day I go out to start it; won't crank; Fuel pump was turning on, so I threw a spark testor on her and there was nothing.....so I get out my trusty test light and throw it on the coil...Igniter is sending signal but coil isn't firing, so I replaced the coil and haven't had the problem since then, and that was 1,000 miles ago...
I had to live with that **** for 10,000 miles, and it ended up being a damn faulty coil...Why couldn't Honda use a Hitachi distributor on the H22?

Re: (r1emperor)
but how can it be ignition related if it only does it when i fill up the tank?
is there anyway to test how well the fuel pump is working?

Re: (r1emperor)
anybody solved this yet?
i've tried
-changing plugs
-cap & rotor
-check timing
-check tps
-replaced o2 sensor
-changed air filter
-changed fuel filter
-running a can of seamfoam through
waiting on my chipped p28, so if its the knock sensor the p28 wont detect it..

Re: (Fast_Forward)
ok, so from all the posts and research i've done most of us have a cai on our preludes (5th gen)? alright then, my friend who builds all motor dragsters said it possibly has something to do with the vac line we all had to move, disconnect, plug, etc... from the stock resonator/stock intake. he said it must relay air to one of the sensors that regulates air fuel mixture, thus causing our cars to run rich. this would explain plugs being charcoaled and bogging around 3k rpm which is the rev limit which honda has determined to be the best for shifting, automatic or manual. the 3k region in the band is the median for shifting related to power and fuel efficiency that honda has tuned the engine to run best at. when removing the vac line and plugging the hole we cause the sensor to register a lean air mixture and the computer runs our engines rich to compensate. now then the reason i think this might be the solution is because recently i had a cel light for my oxygen sensor. my car ran great with the foul sensor? all power, no bog, no gurgling off the gas, felt like new. so i didn't change the sensor and guess what? the light went off and all the problems came back! dude down the street said the problem is the blocked vac line and a simple solution should be a breather filter. i said breather what? and he said it looks just like your big filter, but way smaller. from what he showed me on one of his dragsters one that would fit a H22 would be a little smaller and he said to mount it right to the intake manifold where the vac line went. i have not tried it nor do i know if this will solve the problem, but by next weekend i will have tried and get back to you all. in the meantime if anybody out there knows any different let me know.
