Buy an 07 GSX-R 1000 for 5k thats going to need new plastics from a low side and a few other little parts here and there to fix? I could keep it for street riding and probably get rid of the SV1k or fix it and flip it and hopefully make at least 1-2k out of the deal. This is figuring about 1k for parts ($600 for some ebay plastics and another $400 for misc parts). The guy also has all the stock parts and it's got a PCIII. What do you guys think?

Do you really expect to be able to sell a downed (but repaired) '07 for ~$8K? That seems pretty steep/optimistic to me.

 

I just picked up an 06 gixxer 1000 for 3500. All it needed was plastics. Previous owner had put sum cheap *** made in china fairings that broke when u looked at them. I got a set of very new factory oem fairings for 700. So for 4200 I got myself an 06 1000 with a bmc filter, Arrow full exhaust system and a reflash. Now thats a deal!!!. 5k is a little too much for the condition of that 07...if u can talk him down on the price then yea jump on it. But not for 5k + u gotta repair it...ur gonna lose money in the end

 

I bought my 2007 GSXR 1000 with 10k miles on it and previously down for $4,200 cash. He wanted $5k, but it needed new tires soon, and had a bent rearset.

Could easily sell it for $7k with $1k invested in it! But it's too good of a bike to sell IMO

don't know if u have made that deal already but I have a 01 prelude built by inline pro. Have paper to show over $8800 in motor work done, motor rebuilt at 45000 miles. speedo says 91000 now. blue book is worth from $8000 to $6800. if intrested call me reggie @ 5407751286. Only thing the car is lacking is a paint job and side skirts from when the snow ripped my kit off. Or let me know if you know anyone with a zx10 or gsxr 1000 those are the bikes I want. Or i will trade the car for a coupe with cash on the side

 

I'm pretty sure that bike is in Germany, and the prices he's talking about is the equivalent price of the bike over there. It is always going to be more expensive than in the USA.

I would ask around a local forum, don't know how is the bike market over there to give you a more solid advice. That kind of things, you have to be an insider IMO.

this is what i would do, but i dont ride on the street anymore so you may not be down, take that 600 and buy a good set of race plastics(sharkskinz, hotbodies), this requires you to take out the headlight and taillights, sell those to get some of your money back(you're lookin at around 200), take that 200 and that extra 400 and get some frame sliders, aftermarket rearsets(vortex, woodcraft), and aftermarket case covers(woodcraft). and then you've got a badass track bike for $5200, cant beat that.
