I know many of you here ride nice bikes and drive even nicer cars. Currently I have a junkyard setup on my CRX and its been a blast. By no means is my junkyard kit a complete mess it is acutally pretty well put together. I am thinking about selling it but I need some opinions...

-Will making my car feel EVEN slower than my bike be a bad thing?
-Is my bike really worth investing more money into (IL winters are really unpredictable)?
-Any opinions from people who have outright sold their cars in favor of their bikes?
-I'm not selling the car... just demoting it to a more utilitarian function... pros/cons?

Car is an 89 CRX Si w/ a mini-me and 14b turbo setup @ 7-10lbs depending on my mood.

Bike is a 96 Suzuki GS500E w/ K&N pod and rejetted accordingly

Both vehicles are firsts (first bike/first car).

NINJA Edit: By "feed my bike" i mean... I can get it running better, maybe repaint, basically make it all around more fun.

Ahh, i didnt read it right. Well, if you can stand not having boost and be happy with a nicer condition bike, do it.

Keep the car as reliable (read, close to stock) as possible. The bike will always give the sensation of more speed (if it isn't actually any faster).

Sell the turbo set-up, use that money to service and clean up the GS500, and maybe even get a few things for it (Power commander, damper, frame sliders, CF stuff if they make it)

GS500E's = carbs. So, no to the PC..

anyho, sell turbo kit, invest money wisely, keep GS500 for another year or so, then buy a nicer bike when you feel ready to move up.

I'm a boost junky...so i'd say sell the kit from the car and turbo the bike...

id say keep it as is! not that it's impossible to improve the bike, but i think you wouldn't promote the bike as much as you're demoting the car.

Sell the parts from the car, but don't put the money from them into a GS500.

Save your pennies and buy a sportbike when you are ready. Modding a GS500 is throwing good money after bad IMO.

not really "modding" it. I would be doing something along the lines of.... fixing lil things here and there. This... refreshing of the GS will in no way consume all of the money from the kit. That money will perhaps be saved or go into refreshing the motor of the CRX.

looking for opinions on this train of thought... will the demotion of the car be worth the promotion of this bike... or any bike in general.

Yes. I'm doing the same thing w/my ITR.

Even a stock sportbike is more performance than most can handle. So the bang-for-the-buck ratio on a bike will always be higher. Plus, you can have a bike that's pretty racy that you can also ride to work. With a car, that's a lot harder.

And if you're bike breaks you have a reliable car for a backup.

Exactly.

For me...

Cars:

1. Long trips
2. Grocery Store
3. Track
4. Go fast without being absolutely terrified
5. Crappy Weather

Bikes:

1. Short trips
2. Going into the city
3. Economy (mileage, parking)
4. Enjoying nice weather
5. Having fun w/o having to go fast

I'm in central IL for most of the year down @ school. There was riding weather pretty much all year round minus maybe the dead of winter (maybe a month) where there was enough snow to make even my car suck to drive.

I'm thinking... get both vehicles stabilized and reliable. Bike will be fast/fun naturally and my car will be nice to not worry about. Perhaps after a while I'll go back and boost the CRX and at that point the bike will be reliable.

Location-wise, you'd know better than we do...if the CRX can hack the winters, keep it. I think CRX's are fun to drive stock. Maybe sell the kit and keep the CRX tip-top running condition. Then do a full tune on the bike and such. Personally, I wouldn't put much money into a bike...maybe a new can and a damper. And a seat cowl. lol.

I pulled off my turbo kit for smog purposes but I plan on selling my kit. My bike will have more straight line speed than my integ will ever have. Im just kinda over the drag racing thing. I was doing track days on the bike and drag strip in the car but I started focusing pretty much on two wheels.
