People do it in cars too?
Who gives a **** if he passed someone!
OHH GOD ITS A PUBLIC ROAD AND HE PASSED HIM WHEN THERE WASNT A DOTTED LINE! OMFG SQUID, HES TERRIBLE!
Who gives a ****... Jesus christ...</TD></TR></TABLE>
actually, i do.
again, passed in a straight w/ good visibility w/o a dotted line--that's fine. i do it myself. but at corner entry on a public road? no way.
at the track i'd be looking for something like this. it looks like an outside pass, sure. but on a public road i don't need people passing me midcorner over the DY. even if the guy washes out his own front end and wrecks in front of me, and i roll past it, it still puts me at risk--what if a bike is coming the other way? besides, on a saturday morning, the last thing i WANT to be doing is playing nurse on the side of the road. I'd rather we all stayed upright and could chat at the gas station instead of waiting for the meatwagon.
ultimately, you do what you want on your bike. but what you do on your bike may have repercussions that affect not only you, but others.

the reality of the situation is whether or not you like it, if youre going slow enough to hold up the regular riders youre going to get passed. and the pass that nick made in the photo was 100% safe. if someone does it to you in the canyon you sure as hell arent going to roll up to them at the stop and confront them. so dont bring complaints to an internet forum where everyone will jump on your bandwagon. this entire thread is ******* stupid. just because someone chooses to ride with or without gear is their perogative and has no immediate affect on your existence. expletive em if theyre too stupid to care about their own safety. you obviously have the need to come together and make eachother feel like youre somehow superior to other people.

Sorry, I should have phrased it more specifically to canyon roads.
Does that make it different for you? How about passing a car, in a car, in the twisties?
</TD></TR></TABLE>
True, that is a different situation, but based on that picture can you judge the speed of either rider? For all you know, the guy that was passed could have been going UNDER the speed limit. I know for a fact i've passed people on solid lines that were going retardedly under.

As a viewer of the picture, you can't see what the rider saw. For all you know there was a car 2 feet in front of him or 2 miles in front of him.
While there are many STUPID *** people in the world, I think that this guy had brain and comprehension skills to decided whether or not his passing of the other individual was "safe".
I just don't understand why people FREAK OUT over pictures that provide NO information of the situation, and then just assume random factors and then bash the individual based on the ASSUMED factors.

I do "spirited" driving quite often. I don't street race people, but I take turns fast and take curvy roads in my DA (I dont have a bike, so). Is it legal? No. Is it "safe"? Technically no, but I know my abilities and the limits of my car, and I know that if I take that turn coming up at 30 mph or 10 mph, the result will MOST LIKELY be the same...

Yeah, most likely. except for gravel/dirt/another rider in your lane... thats kind of the point I'm making. Riding on public roads like that with such a reduced safety margin is, well, stupid - but to each their own.

by "chat" i didn't mean "chew out" i meant sit around and bullshit at the shell over bikes, bitches, n hoez.
but it's also not a moral superiority thing either. it's a "look we all gotta get our **** together" thing. janey cager doesn't know the difference b/w a tlr, a 600rr, and a virago. she just sees 2 wheels and a lid. so when she gets pissed off in traffic b/c of the RR parade a while back and tries to swipe me while i'm on my daily split--it doesn't matter that i've never picked up a wheel on the street--i'm on 2 wheels, with a lid.
when stout cruises up n down looking to light up anyone on a sportbike, because it's the guys on sportbikes that keep going down on the crest, and i get a ticket for being 6 over the limit, but more so b/c i'm in leathers and on a sport bike, it totally sux.
or when you roll through certain places and the residents are so sick of the scream of a inline-4 that they lay down debris on purpose to slow you down, one way or another, and someone eats **** doing the speed limit, it's pretty fucked.
so talking about it over an internet forum might not be totally effective, but it's an exchange of ideas, is it not?
