Opinions needed '06 1000rr
got a friend looking at an 06 1000rr. seller is asking $4300. went down at the track. 6200 miles, light low side, salvage title wisconsin. Needs to be inspected to legally ride on street. Have put on 800 miles since crash. Runs/rides great. Balance of 5 yr warranty. Extra tires.
before getting fixed
personally i think its a decent deal for an '06 with ~6k miles
should he go with it?

eh, I wouldn't....I don't like bike's with salvage titles...It only got that title because he made a claim with the insurance company...well, where did that money go? Apparently he didn't fix the bike...
offer 3500 and be prepared to leave it...

Sounds like a good deal to me man. Seems odd that they would salvage it due to light plastic damage. Are you sure there is nothing wrong with the frame? Worse comes to worse, it would make a good track bike if you can't get it to pass inspection

he said dealer pushed for it to be salvaged, owner bought it back from ins
from the lowside, the shift linkage and engine cover was replaced by the dealer

they're a bit heavy, didn't like the powerband, not the most comfy bike either (albeit, that was probably the Sato rearsets).
everything on the bike felt...sluggish or laggy. once it got going it flew, but it didn't feel responsive.

I'd say that's an awesome deal.
This is why I recommended that the $3000 02 GSXR guy hold off and find another bike. $1300 more and he's got one hell of a better machine.
I've seen bikes get salvaged for that kind of damage. It doesn't take more than a couple of scratches on the frame or swing arm. Check the radiator - make sure it didn't get hit.

You arent required to fix the bike with the insurance $$.
With a couple of light scratches on the plastics and swingarm, I wouldnt have either.

i heard a common complaint with those bikes is that they do feel heavy and unresponsive.
I rode my buddies 06 1krr and it felt pretty good but around slow turns i felt like i was on my rc. and the rc is known to be heavy

Went down at the track?
What... in the pits?
Bike looks good from outward appearances, That is some pretty minor cosmetic damage... maybe a better price is in order for a salvage title though
