NoVA meets Cali (semi-OT)
I met the man in the bra:
Poor guy was in pain showing me around. Took me to a shop where one of the guys actually lived in Burke 10 years ago (as he stated "Cali > NoVA").
Herb was nice enough to invite me in his house, introduce me to his puppy, kitty, and wife.
Thanks for showin' me around, there'll be more times since I'm over there every 6 weeks.
Also went to the fair:
Since it's the /26, I'll say that the bikes in Cali are ridiculously priced. (919 for over 10g's)

Re: (marmaladeboy)
haha. man I hated the figure 8 brace when I broke my collar bone back in the day. made sleeping at night terrible too. I too had a big *** lump where mine broke pretty badly. 8 yrs after that I had surgery on the same shoulder for arthritis and bad cartalidge. Once again making it miserable to sleep at night... Least you get some kick *** pain killers though

Hahaha, yeah, the brace sucks bigtime when I have to sleep. I'm hoping I don't need surgery, but whatever helps the bone heal the fastest...

Re: (marmaladeboy)
I don't have a scan of my break but basically the end of the bones looked like this = haha. they were overlapped cause I didn't realize I broke it and tried using my arm to get up and they slipped apart. I was told that surgery was possible but really not necessary. I think though now that i've since had more bone removed from that collar bone that it's quite noticeable that one is shorter then the other

Yeah, my collarbone almost looks like the equal sign too! More like slanted parallel lines...

Re: (EngineNoO9)
I actually found an x-ray that similary matches my break. though for mine the ends were more overlapped. the figure 8 pulls that back though and was supposed to help... Kinda wish though they just operated and put a plate on it at this point (10 years later)

It was way cool, I got to see that there is a 'chill' side of LA (vs Mrs PengWEN's club hopping and sorority stuff). And ...of course.

Pricey. We probably spent close to 50 bucks in what you see in these pictures (calamari not pictured!):
And the 'moneyshot':

you can see int he pic that he's wearing a brace around his shoulders. it's a figure 8 brace that pulls your shoulders back to make sure the bone heals properly. slings don't do **** to help with collar bone breaks

Yeah, the Figure 8 brace looks like I'm wearing a tiny girly backpack. It's going to be part of my Halloween costume though....all I need to do is tape some wings to the back of it...
That's quite a big sausage you've got there Ick.

from what I remember with mine it'll take a month at least. Problem with the collar bone is even the smallest of falls, if you fall a certain way they'll break almost no matter what.

You found me out. It's where I like to put my girly toiletries. You can't see the other side of it, but it's actually Hello Kitty.
Ick, next time you want to see over-priced bikes, I'll take you to Bert's. There, it's only $12k for a 1000RR...not including any fees.
