Not really - when the dealership gets the bike they have to do some out of the box assembly (mirrors, clipons, etc) and I assume setup is the pre-delivery inspection (tire pressures, inspections, fluids, etc).

The dealerships around me are letting them go for $3299+250 transportation fee+misc. fee's and taxes they didn't get into...so probably around $4000 is my guess.
Edit: They're not stocking them until January so I have to wait until then

I know that, but one of those two charges is a BS charge. I guess that's just normal capitalism.

I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, just another thing to try to talk them down with. At least they didn't add the "Bubble wrap popping and disposal fee"

Would it make you feel better if they just combined them into one line item and gave you a hug?

i find it funny that they actually have it in 3 "fees." i wonder if it makes it easier for them to sell it like that, than with the two fees having a larger price...

you guys dont understand how stuff works...those arent markups...good luck getting one for $3500 OTD, the dealer doesnt make crap on the 250's, so i doubt you will ever come close to this price...
when you buy something new from a dealer you pay for freight, tags, DOC, tax, etc...
you do the same in an automotive dealership...

If you pay that, you're a sucker
Except for tax and tags, you can usually negotiate down the freight, set up, and other dealer added fees.
And what the new 250s sell for will largely depend on how the demand for them are.

you still pay it, but if the dealer was smart they would take it out of the price of the bike instead (this way you dont have customers who bitch that they had to pay it when so and so didnt).
however, when you buy a car you are charge destination (same thing as freight)...

I told my dealership your quoted price and he said sounds like someone's getting a little greedy. OTD for mine is 3900 and I haven't tried talking them down yet...but I doubt I'll get much off.

lol, not 3500 otd, thats impossible due to taxes and registration. but if you think that those fees are all standard and wont be waived, well then let me sell you some laser etched glass to deter thieves, rust proofing the paint, and some proguard.

why are your taxes >10%? Is that to make up for no property tax?

Yea, when i received the quote i was a little surprised.
I went to Renton Motorcycle Company just south of Seattle and this was the quote they gave me.
Hopefully i'll find some other places with more reasonable offers.

The Kawi dealership here charges MSRP + tax and that's it. Maybe you should keep looking. Go find a smaller dealership in a small town, not one of those "super" dealerships. From my experience the "grassroots" dealerships usually charge less.
Now my question is:
Why can't you find a 250 dual-sport for around $3599?
