Not having a R1 I will only tell you what I get on my R6.
The best I ever got was 55mpg. I was breaking the motor in and was crusing on the freeway fluxuating my speed around 60mph. Now that horrible time is over I generally get about 40, just below if I am playing on the twisties, and just above if I am riding on the freeway.
At the track I get roughly 30mpg.
