How good are GPR stabilizers?
i finally secured a full time job and can now afford to put some decent money on my R1. the first item, track suit hehe,
anyways
got some baffles and that will be it for piping, but interested in upgrading the suspension. is the GPR stabilizer worth it for the price, apart from spending some ridiculus amount of $$$ on ohlin steering damper and other products (way later on the list of mods)? thanx in advance

i run a GPR and couldn't be happier. i did have to send it in though (about 6 months after owning it), 'cause one of the seals took a **** (it started seeping some hydro. oil.), nothing crazy though. they took care of it free of charge, only took 2 days before i had it back.

they're both good. GPR is in SoCal though, and their customer service is top-notch. they only charge like $12 to have the stabilizer rebuilt (something you should do every year) with new seals, and offer a few different options for oil weights.

The added power you're working with on the R1 will produce some headshake once you start taking it to the track or doing some hard canyon rides. Until then, I don't know that the GPR should be so high up on your list.
Have you had your suspension adjusted for your weight and riding style?
-If not, get that done first
Are your stock suspension components (ie springs, shock) ideal for your weight?
-Changing out your stock springs and changing the valving will change the handling characteristics for the better, moreso than any bolt-on damper will provide.
All of this info is provisional though...cuz the GPR just looks kinda cool, too

Plus it's got Ohlins engraved on it. I like mine as well.

i think i will feel safer with a stabilizer, i am 175 with leathers..so the stock components will be okay, my friend also knows a guy that does suspension adjustments for like $40...so yea ur right I should do that first

Ya, have your suspension set up first. There are a lot of how-to's for suspensions and setting it up yourself will allow you to learn how it works and how changes to compression/rebound and preload all work. I adjusted mine myself before my last trackday but then had the guy from RaceTech do some changes. He made some adjustments, then had me ride, then adjusted things again more to my liking. Definitely worth the $30 I paid

How soon after owning it did you have to send it in?
I've never had to send my Scotts in.
The GPR is interchangeable (if you have the correct mount) between bikes too right?
