Do you see anyone using 954's in the Datona 200? No, because they're slow.

hahahahehehehe.....alright, everyone has their own opinion I guess on what they like. You sound like a newbie to the RR scene obviously, still just caring about hp and tq as key.........well if you're doing 1/4 drags on your bike then you're right, the gixxer 1 will take out the 54'; canyons and twisties is what I do, NO gixxer can hang in the twisties with a 954--the gixxer can just wait til' the straight away. The ya-hahas r1 is decent if you don't count on reliability issues and re-sale (not speaking for the 04' model, but I bet you're not speaking for the 04 1000rr either, are you?.............
We'll continue this after the 04's all arrive then we'll see what's up with the gixxer1 under all aspects!

You sir, have shut the door on being an idiot.

My guess is you haven't ridden with anyone worth a **** or, you're just riding with Squids. So you keep thinking your 54 is the **** and enjoy your own little world.

In MY world, there's a reason the GSXR1000 is the best selling of all the Liter bikes. It ownz.... and after riding on my buddy's for a while, I'm really sorry I didn't buy a GSXR1k for the $1000 more than I got my 54 for.

The brakes are better
The suspension is better
The ride is better
The seat is more comforatable
The bike is better balanced
The power is WAY more linear than the 54.

For the $1000 difference between the 2 bikes, I have spent 3x that money trying to get my bike up to that level.

Not to mention, the GSXR1k didn't need a "Service Recall" on the steering head, whereas my 54 did.

So, what does the 54 have over a 1k? The rear swingarm, that's it, and NOTHING else.

So enjoy your 54, I'm looking to get rid of mine......

The only think the 900 series bikes have over the GSXR is that they're better for stunting.. I think anyone who buys a bike just to stunt it anyway is an idiot.

Stunting isn't a sport, it's just a more dangerous and way more expensive skateboard. Sure the occasional wheelie is fine, but stoppies and 12's and skitching? Nah I prefer to have my body in tact and my motorcycle in one piece.

wow, i think this is the first thing you've ever said i agree with you on...haha...but yeh...stunting is entertaining as hell to watch though...but whatever floats your boat...if you need to do 12's then by all means , go nuts cause i love to watch people do em...hah..

The gixxer1 has it's up's, we aren't denying that! for it to be a bulkier bike, it better. It sounds like you're always being left in the twisties due to rider error, riding with peeps more experienced than you, giving you the only chance to catch up where it takes no skill (straights), unfortunantly seeing that the gixxer does pull on straights, your out of luck obviously. The 54 is a way better handling bike, better brakes (330mm.), more comfort (no spongy seat), can't complain about the suspension either (just dial it in right).
I've ridden a gixxer1, R1, and a duc to name a few and the only one I would spend hyping up is the duc.
Sorry to hear you jumped the gun and bought a 54 in 2002, You were again out of luck-- with the recall, 2003 no recall.
Start riding harder then borrow your buddies gixxer, see what happens in the twisties.
