599 looks good, but i think next year they are redesigning it. might be worth the wait if honda plans on be competitive with the other naked bikes. do a little research. try cycleforums.net they have a naked/motard section with lots of good info.

did you hear this from any credible bike news outlets? i'd like them to redesign it.
aluminum frame, adjustable suspension, good brakes would be nice.

Re: honda 599-919? (falcongsr)
My buddy has a 599 which I have ridden and I think is....awesome. My dad has a 919 which I have ridden and I think is...awesome. My only complaint about the 599 is that it's carb'd, and it is a little expensive compared to the other bikes in it's class (The FZ6 and the SV650) But both bikes are super smooth, have plenty of power, and are pretty slick looking to boot. I would probably go for the 919 personally, just to have the extra grunt, but if you are looking for a nice light, bike for a beginner/intermediate rider the 599 is an bad-*** motorcycle.

read about it on cycleforums a little while back. i'll try to dig up the thread. honestly if your looking at the current 599, consider the sv650. i had one and its a fun *** bike.

I'll 2nd that for sure. wheelies are real easy on the SV. no clutch needed in 1st.

I can power wheelie mine in 2nd, but clutching a wheelie is the only way to go.

No experience, but I can share some facts.
The 599 is overpriced, plain and simple. It's got a 4-cylinder motor and some outdated componentry. Apparently it works well on the road, but it costs over $7K. An SV650 - which is a better bike - costs $5899.
919 is probably a better buy. But the SV1000 owns that too.

The 599 was really popular over in Yurop as the Hornet. I've read that it has an SV650-esque following over there, with it's own racing series to boot.
It's got a premium price tag. I think it's also the most bad *** bike in it's segment, although that may not be a purchase factor for some folks.
Me, I ride a bike that's only 4 years younger than I am....

Re: honda 599-919? (Bud)
thanks for the info
would a 919 be to much for a beginner bike. i have alot of room to practice riding it. i live in a small town full of country roads and farm roads. so i could learn at my own rate instead trying to learn in lots of traffic. just my theory i could be wrong.

2 friends of mine have them, both love them. The only issue you need to think about is the lack of wind protection, it gets a bit tiresome on highway cruising. Great bikes though, IMO.

The 599 is a terrible bike. F3 engine with a suspension that is bleh....
The 919 is a much better choice for a naked bike for only a little bit more money. The sv is a better choice for a naked bike or the kawasaki z1000 if you want an inline. If I was going to get a naked bike itd probably be a z1000.

This man speaks the truth about the 599.
I really love Honda bikes, but I just think they've priced themselves out of being really competitive here.
About the Kawi nakeds - very nice as well, but higher-dollar and higher-power than things like the 599 and SV650.

Haha sorry I didnt read the part about it being your first bike. Stay away from the 919 and the z1000. Get a sv650 Great from beginner to expert.

Oops, they both have 919's.
If you wanted a 600 class bike, I think the Yamaha FZ6 is a better choice than the 599.
