Hello, I have a problem with my 2002 zx6r, I rode it to work today and it was running perfect. Now I go to leave work so I start it up and go back inside to put my gear on, I come out hop on the bike turn the choke off, then the bike stalls. So I try to crank it with no luck, So I give it a bit of throttle and it fires up, way up! It would stay at 5k rpm, I thought maybe the throttle stuck so I gave it a few quick twist's. No luck. So then out of no where the rpms drop and the bike stalls, I proceed to fire it up again and it back fired and then stalled. Now I finally got it home by keeping on the throttle at stop lights so it would not stall. And now I am home and lost as to what could be wrong with my bike. Help please!!!

 

I dont know how it works with bikes exactly, but is your timing correct? Or is there no such thing as timing when talking about bikes?

 

It maybe that your plugs are fouled.

 

Cleaned the plugs off.......Still the same situation. Damn I am stumped!

 

possibly an idle adjustment? Are you carbs clean and working right?

 

I changed the plugs, now it starts fine but there seems to be a surge in the rpms when idling, like going upto 5k and staying there!

 

Ugggghhh some of the nicest days of the year and I am without bike!!!!!
