are hayabusas top speed limited?
with the new zx14 coming out i've heard that it's been top speed limited. sorry for my layman's knowledge of cycles but is there some sort of government mandatory limit going on?

Re: are hayabusas top speed limited? (mr poo)
I think anyone who wants to go that fast will have the knowledge to get around it.
Anyone who doesn't have that knowledge, doesn't need to be going that fast.

Re: are hayabusas top speed limited? (Wimpy.)
any limit on the speed would be imposed by the factory. there arent any limits that i know of for the motorcycle industry that are imposed by the government.

It's not government mandated, it is self imposed. There was a big uproar in Europe after the Hayabusa came out about banning certain bikes cause they were too fast, iirc.
For the ZX-12R you can get the Bonneville box, which allows full revs and power in top gear.

ahh thanks for the clarification!
were the manufactures afraid of governments banning certain motorcycles for sale? is this agreement the same with all manufacturers or are only some participating?

I'm 99.9 percent sure all of the bigger companies follow this understanding, with limiting top speed.
However just like the ZX12 has the bonneville box....a Yosh TRE should effectively remove the top speed limiter on a busa...as it did on my 600. I didn't theorize...i found out.

I agree, because technical knowledge is synonymous with riding skill.
On another note, does anyone else have a sweeping generalization to make themselves look foolish?
