before i go on, id like to thank everyone for the help. i know it can get annoying when somebody keeps asking little questions but its really helping me and i appreciate it a lot.

so here's my new problem. the rear wheel isnt fitting. i looked on the wheel and it says "J 17XMT5.50 DOT". so does this mean that the wheel is actually 5.5in wide instead of 5 in wide. cause that might be why its not fitting. i did get it from a guy who brought it from japan and maybe they have different spec wheels over there?

i did get a spacer kit off ebay that is supposed to be specifically for putting the honda f3 wheel on an sv650 but so far the wheel isnt fitting without the spacers and impossible with them, unless im doing something horribly wrong.

here is the bike with the rear wheel on but no spacers and no caliper mount because i couldnt fit it on:

here you can see the left side of the wheel where the larger spacer is supposed to go and its flush against the swing arm:

here you can see the block that supports the caliper mount and how close it is to the brake disc, no room for the caliper mount:

and here you can somewhat see how far off the caliper mount is off from fitting:

keep in mind that the bracket is flush against the brake disc in this pic and the hub of the wheel where it must mount is a little further out so that gives it even less room, and there are no spacers in the wheel that are supposed to make the wheel fit. so does anyone know what ive done wrong or if i have the wrong wheel that is too wide? im going to join and post this in socalsvriders.org aswell but just thought id see if anyone here knew anything. thanks again for everyone's help and just for viewing the build.

im still waiting for my headlights/gauges/forks to come back because their gettin a custom mount fabbed up for a secure clean look. i cant wait to see how it turns out but im going out of town on monday so ill just have to wait ...

also i need to change the front sprocket for the new chain but every time i try and unscrew the nut holding it on it just turns the engine over. if i wrap the chain around the front and rear sprockets and put a broom stick or something through the spokes of the wheels so it catches on the swing arm keeping it from rotating, would that allow me to turn the nut on the drive shaft without harming the engine/driveshaft/transmission/wheel/sprockets or chain?

Isn't it already a streetfighter? Looks like you're just modding your SV.

Good work either way!

If it's a 5.50 wheel, then you have a 900rr wheel. The f3 wheels are 5.00, f2's are 4.50. I think you will need a new rear wheel.

man, i was affraid it was the wrong wheel. at least it was super cheap so i shouldnt lose any money if any at all. anyone in the market for a 900rr rear wheel? or have a 5in wide f3 wheel for sale? im sad im not gonna get to work on it for about a week cause im goin out of town but at least itll give me time to work the grease stains out of the tips of my fingers. i was thinking of some names to call this project/bike. because its a streetfighter, how do you all like "bar room brawler"?

NO,, the SV is not a streetfighter just because it has no plastics, its a naked sportbike.

Bar Room Brawler eh? Does your bike like getting drunk at the bars and fighting?

I have a 4.50 f2 wheel if you want it, but ebay has plenty of 5" f3 wheels and you can try cbrforum.com in the classifieds.

I used an electric impact and it knocked it right off for me. The only ways its comming off are

1:block the wheel so it wont turn
2:impact (electric or ai)

or take a block of wood wedge it inbetween the sprocket and the crank case hope for the best if that does not work go buy air compressor and air impact or a electric impact. ( i have craftsmen and works nice)

go electric unless you got some $$$. you need a big compressor to sustain a gas impact. tried it for deck building and it didnt work.

put your stock wheel back on (if you have it) run a 2x4 through the spokes and ontop of the swingarm, then you can use a cheater bar and ratchet

cant really afford any kind of impact tool right now so ill put the old chain on and have a friend hold the wheel. the wheel wont fit for riding but i can get it on for something small like this.

i dont think he will be able to hold it, just put something across the swingarm so it doesnt get scratched and block the wheel with a 2x4. Its gunna take some force to break it loose

is why you wait till he gets the right rear wheel I did my rc51 front sprocket with someone just holding the rear brake and using a breaker bar.

so im back from vacation with a 3rd degree burn on my foot which is all swollen and red and nasty (long story dont ask). im going to palm desert tomarrow to pick up my forks that i had a custom mount fabbed to hold my headlights, gauge, blinkers, and windscreen. ill post pics of that tomarrow. but for now i have a few MORE questions haha. i went to take the ignition off of the stock sv top tripple and it has two hex bolts with a little bar in the middle of the hex, what is that even called cause i dont even know what kind of tool to ask for? it wont allow a regular hex key to work. anyway, kinda feels good and frustrating to be gettin back to work on this, hopefully ill have pics up tomarrow of my front end, should be nice.

yeah, its like a torx bit but the bit would have to have a hole in the middle to fit this weird lil bar. if i cant figure out a way to get it off ill post some pictures cause ive never seen anything like this.

its a security torx head. You can buy the set from like harbor freight or somewhere. You are going to have to ask and tell them specifically you want the security type set. They come in a bunch of sizes and some have a ball indent, some have a post some have a diamond, its just whatever that manufacturer decided to use. Ill try to post a picture of the set I have to show you what Im talking about

The part circled in red is the indent.

and here's the new front end

i think it looks great and most important everything is really sturdy. i may add some aluminum sheets or something on the sides to clean it up a little but as of now im satisfied. cant wait to get this all on. ill have to relocate the ignition and i was thinking of putting it on the side somewhere like a harley. comments and suggestions welcome.
