as long as the maintance is good on the bike. try to talk him down to $3,300. 3900 seems a little high. what are the prices on all the bikes?

I wouldn't pay more than $3000. Unless it's never been dropped and has been pampered like a museum bike. Then $3900 sounds reasonable. But if it's gonna be your 1st bike, don't worry too much about asthetics.. just get one that's reliable and mechanically maintained well. Because you'll most like tip it over at least once. Maybe even wreck it. So it's probably more important that you spend the least amount of money on the bike as possible.. you may need money to fix a damaged bike later. And believe me, bikes get very expensive to fix after a crash.. even just the plastics. But you don't really even need the plastics to learn or mess around on. BTW, hospital bills cost even more.

thats what i was thinking.

what year gixxer? if its not fuel injected then i would go with the F4i. Just because of the fuel injection since they are comparable in all other categories.

Go with whichever is the cleanest. If you arent sure, take it into a shop to have them look over it.

25K is a good amount of mileage - you really don't see many bikes FS that have that kind of time on them.

I'm not a big fan of 99-02 R6s anyway, so I would pick the F4i over either of the other bikes. I think if your riding is much more than 50% street, the F4i is a better choice than most R6s/Gixxers/RRs you will find.

Not biased either...I had an 05 R6 and it was a wonderful bike, but not great on the street.

R6 looks the best! i've never driven a bike, so i can't comment on usability.

out of those options I'd choose the f4i... Out of like last years model bikes I'd choose the r6. Out of this year's model bikes I'd choose the gixxer 600...

I had an F4i for my first bike and I can't complain. I never drove the other bikes so I can't compare but I speak from experience that the F4i is great all around bike.

one of my good friends have a F4i that i always ride and i have a '03 GSX-R600. what it really comes down to is what you want to do with the bike. street riding, F4i > GSX-R600. if you're going to turn it into a track ***** (like my spray bomb monster), then definitely GSX-R600 > F4i

i find the overall demeanor of the F4i to be softer.. the ergo/seating position is much easier on your back (you sit way more upright). the reach to the clip ons is closer and they're not placed as low. the seat height is also much lower, with the tank being narrower as well.

if you were a new rider, i'd definitely recommend the F4i just based on those qualities because it is more confidence inspiring (in the beginning). although the wet weight appears to be fairly similar on paper, the GSX-R is a noticeably harder to wheel around (for backing up, parking, whatever).

the suspension is stiffer on the GSX-R and the steering is heavier (probably due to the stock steering damper). the response is faster but also requires a little more muscling around.

power wise, the GSX-R easily towers the F4i. don't get me wrong, the F4i still has plenty enough power for daily riding and to have fun on (and plenty enough to get a newbie in trouble if they weren't cautious with the throttle too). simply put though, the GSX-R will feel much punchier stock for stock.

in the end though, you can't really beat Honda's reliability (not saying that Suzukis are bad) and resale.. and despite all the crap i've said, i'd say get the one that is a better deal and not damaged

no.

i got my '99 R6 with 11k for $3500, with a free extra tank. that much mileage is killer on the price. my friend just sold his' 00 with 16k for around $4500.

f4i = great all around bike
r6 = also very good, probly not as relaible in the long run. belive the 99 is carb not fuel injected - would avoid.
gsxr = more for track less for every day street riding. also most often crashed it seems.

this might be a little off topic but how would a 96-99 gsxr compare with a 99-02 r6 and a 99-00 f4 all being carbeurated?
