cb450sc..engine dies when I touch the throttle
this is weird. the bike ran perfect yesterday, today i got the bike to start and when it seemed like it was going to die i went to give it a little throttle, the second i touched it, the engine cut out. i can start it and it will run but i need to keep it on full choke.
any ideas would be great
i was told by a mechanic friend that the jets are shot in my carb.

jets dont normally wear out like that. they can get pluged but not "shot". this might sound kinda basic but make sure the gas is on and open up the bowl drains (both carbs) let some gas run out. if this is the bike i think it is you should be able to just pop the bowls of with one clip, see what the look like. if the bowl has crap in it pull the carbs and clean them carfully. but seen how the bike ran good one night, and not the next morning, i say turn on the gas.

my bike only pulls the gas when its on so i never even shut off the gas. i would have taken the carbs appart, i have worked on many carbs but i have been told by many people that these carbs are a pain to work on which is why i didnt touch them yet.
thanks for the help.

its a 1986. i know that the carbs need to be cleaned, i just want to get it started so i can get it to the motorcycle place and get someone to go through it with a fine toothed comb.
do you think draining a little gas from the carb will maybe pass whatever is clogging the jets so i can get it started.

Re: (cb450scmatt)
It's probably your carbs being clogged up, cleaning them will probably fix your problem. But it could also be an obstruction somewhere in the fuel lines, maybe something in the petcock is restricting fuel flow, or if you have a fuel filter it may have picked up some dirt and stopped up. Check to see that you are getting plenty of fuel to your carbs.
