Icon5 Carburator problems

I have a pc800 that has set for a year and in spite of gas additives still crudded up the carburetor. Before tearing apart and boiling out the carburetor I was instructed to use a gas additive called w4400? by BG. Does anyone have some comments are suggestions. Thanx

No. no no no. The carbs should be rebuilt, using new o-rings, and cleaning the jets and carb bodies. Drain the gas tank, and check for rust in the tank. Change the fuel filter, if it has one (the stock set-up does, but many people take it out when they change out the fuel lines), and check to make sure the fuel lines don't have any cracks in them. This should get you going. You will probably need to synch the carbs when they go back together. If you have any questions about synching them, I can help.

I have a '98 PC with about 60,000 miles. When I back off on the throttle it seems to take awhile for the engine to idle down. I've been told that this is a typical Honda issue, but I don't think so based on other Hondas I've owned. Also, if it sits for a week or more or if the ambient temperature is cold it starts very hard. It will always start after lots of cranking, but sometimes with a backfire also. Once started and shut down it will always restart easily later in the day or even the next day unless the temps are cold again. Any ideas from you PC experts?
