Default best place to look for a starter bike?

this guy i meet is trying to sell me a 98 fzr600 for $1000. this seems to good to be true, the bike has 15k miles on it and was once dropped by the owner before him. my only real concern is the part of the frame that goes over the rear tire looks kinda tweaked, the owner says its just the panels but i think its the frame. so im trying to find a starter bike around that same price range, where should i be looking? and also if the frame is bent do u think it could be pulled back if we stipped the bike down to just the frame? thanks

lol Next time u meet up with the guy, ask him to take off the rear seat of the bike and even the back panels, and look and see if any parts of the frame are bent, or have been re-welded, or re-painted, or have slight discoloration, and make sure the panel bracket holes off the frame line up.

i had teh back seat off and it looked like the metal bar that goes across the frame about 6 inches back from where the seat ends was kinda crooked, is that normal?

Buy something like an 80s V65 Honda Magna, they've got plenty of power and are easier to handle for a beginner. They're also not butt ugly like any sportbike under 1500 dollars.

Yeah, i would suggest NOT buying the bike, the bike and situation just seems a little too shady for me, there are plenty of deals out there, just give yourself some more time and u'll find the right one that fits u best. Search this topic on H-T.
