Meh, I prefer the simplicity (and relative rarity) of my 8-valve twin to the 4-cyl bikes. Cleaning/synching 4 carbs must be a bitch
I was also considering a Yamaha XS750 for some time, it's a really neat 3 cyl. sport tourer. Shaft drive, torquey, but sorta heavy.

i've got a 750. it just sits there, ignored, while my RD gets all the love.
I think i'll fix it one day. i don't like how heavy the bike is though.

He hates that stuff. He's not enlightened like us.
Cleanest H2 I seen. Ever. Most of the bikes I get to see are riders. His is more of a show bike. Here's one of the pics I took of the other side:

Good for him.
I'd hate to see that eye-wateringly mint H2 get transformed into another 'cafe.' Why not do all of that stuff to thrashed bikes that need various parts replaced anyways?

Taking a stock bike to cafe/RR it would be pretty dumb... BUT, there were so many made you have to bet there are a few engines running around that need love to

True. The motorcycle junkyard I frequent is up to its ears in parts for CB350/360/500/550/650/750, all sorts of 2 strokes (lots of Zuk's and Kawis), and for whatever reason (cracked heads most likely) an unbelievable amount of Yamaha TX/XS500 twins. There are atleast 10 engines I can get parts from (I already have one) and at any time there is atleast 1 whole parts bike I can get for $150. There was even a totally complete '76 JUST like mine with better paint, the guy was asking $200, someone bought it before I did
With enough time I bet around 100 running motorcycles could be assembled just from this junkyard.

Re: (CivicWagonRUS)
I was just kidding about the enlightened thing, but I do likes me that black kawi up there with the chambers- of course everybody is entitled to like whatever style bike they want. I think I've seen that bike before, maybe on KTW forums.
Typing about conflict of styles reminds me of some of the bicycle threads on /26, where peeps remove all of the technology from the past 100 years from their bicycles. On purpose. I still don't get that.

http://losangeles.craigslist.o....html
it'll go fast and it's worth every penny. you could get it running for cheap and flip it for more than double.

damn that thing is hOt.
I just decided to go w/ premix, so I removed the oil tank and the oil pump. but now i'm wondering what i should do with the space that those things used to occupy...
have some new DG chambers on the way. yeah, they're cheap and kinda shitty but, I'm still trying to decide whether I want to primp and preen, or ride this bitch.
also, Mschu what suspension options are there for the RD? Does Penske/ohlins make shocks for these things?

To be honest... I would use whatever will fit... Look at the center to center distance you want(raising the rear is a good idea-lengthen the shocks slightly) and many Man. still make dual shocks... Ohlins, Penske, etc.
IF I do get lucky and score this(I ahev a lot on my plate right now)... I will swap out the front end and rear end shocks
i would probably also lower the rear shock mount pick up points
This thing is definetely AHRMA material

Re: (MSchu)
Hi everybody, this is my first post here. Have checked out some of the nice rides on this site in the past. Thought I'd share my sorta old bike with everybody.
It might not be vintage old, but the '93 is the same bike as the '89. Not to mention the 400 is the smaller version of the vfr 750r that was racing in the mid 80's in world super bike.
It's a '93 VFR400 R (NC30) Japanese model and it's my first bike. The previous owner lived in Japan somewhere! Got it from an importer north of Toronto back in May of this year. It had a bit over 20,000 km on it when I bought it and I put about 9,000km on it over the summer. These are very rare bikes over here so it gets a lot of attention.
I love it..it's verry fast for a 400cc bike. The little v-four just screams, has lots of torque and good linear power too. Sounds beastly with the race can on it, the gear driven cams make a great noise. The handling is just unbelievable, it just goes where you want it. It's very light at only 350lbs. However I was pushing it one day and dropped it on some fine gravel. Rashed the left side a tad on the fairings and exhaust. Oh well..first season what can you expect. I was wearing all my gear and was fine except a little road rash on my hip.
I plan on fixing/replacing the damaged fairing+exhaust and taking some weight off it this winter. Probably gonna try to find a single seat unit, some racing rear-sets and maybe even a set of light weight race wheels too. The rear could use some paint atleast if those are too much $$.
Mods I've done since I got it - red front wheel (original grey had a ding), sintered race pads for the front, tinted screen, afam sprocket +1 rear, new 525 gold chain, new high quality battery and upgraded reg. rectifier as the original was having problems. Got new tires as well!
On a side note, my dad has a vintage bike. He restored a '78 Kawasaki KZ1000 LTD a few years ago. It's mint! He's also restoring a '75 Z1 900 as he's got a lot of parts for them and a couple engines and frames. I can post up pics of his bike if anyone is interested.
