99' 900RR jetting??????
i just bout a 900RR about 3 weeks ago with a D&D pipe and as far as i can tell, everything else is stock. I live up at about 7000ft which sucks because of power loss. when ever i leave the mountain and go down closer to sea level the power is great but i have a couple of flat spots that are similar to when i am running out of gas just before i switch over to reserve. i bought an air filter kit online that comes with 2 cone filters. after dropping them in my power draped by about 90%. almost no power at all. the old filter was pretty dirty so could it be that with the new air filter, the bike is running WAYYYYYYY tooooo lean? im a little short on cash to buy a jet kit right now so could i get by with just changing the main jet for now? if so what should i got to? stock is 120. thanks,
Bryan

ya, you are running way lean i bet. is this a CA model bike? from what i have read they use restrictive cams compared to the 49 state version for emissions so you dont want a huge jump in jet size.
you will also need to shim your needles as well, in fact this may help more than jets in the midrange.
dont worry about pilot jets, the mains and needles are all you will need to change
here is the factory pro page, good info here: http://www.factorypro.com/Prod_Pages/prodh38.html

mebbe start with 130s, clean your plugs and check to see what color they are. really you will have to try a few different sizes to get it right, you may have to go to bigger ones even because of the race filters
and i would likewise start with one 3mm shim on the needles, and you may need one or two more if you are runnin lean still
so i would start with 130s and one needle shim and go from there, i really dont know much about what set-ups work specificlly on those bikes, thats just from what i have done on my carb'd bikes. i have never bought the kits either, jets and shims are cheap

Re: (smokee)
OMFG!!!! i love it!!!!
i jetted it to 130main and moved the needle up 1 and its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooo
great! at 7000ft it pulls up easier then it did down at 1000ft before it was jetted. the throttle is so responsive and the power band... HA!!! couldn't be smoother. thanks guys
