10-11 day California Tour - September
I've been cooped up in an office for the past few years and have not taken a real vacation in about 6 years. I'm maxed out on vacation days (30) so I'm planning on taking 2 weeks off in September.
Here's the plan:
Day1: Ride to San Luis Obispo, check out the Botanical Garden there and then head over to Morro Bay State Park (SP) to camp.
Day 2: Ride to Pinnacles National Monument by way of State Route 1 along the coast and then taking Carmel Valley road east. Camp at the park.
Day 3: Head South on US101 and then west on Nacimiento-Fergusson road back to SR1 and then north onto to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Camp there that day and the following.
Day 4: camp/hike Humboldt Redwoods State Park
Day 5: Head East to Plumas-Eureka SP and camp there for the night.
Day 6: Head south to Yosemite National Park.
Day 7: camp/hike Yosemite.
Day 8: Death Valley NP. Stay @ the Furnace Creek Ranch (My only planned Hotel stay)
Day 9: Anza-Borrego SP. Camp
Day 10: Julian for breakfast and then home.
What do you guys think? I plan on having the YZF600 running and broken in by then. If not, I'm renting a car.
EDIT: I'd like to thank CivicWagonRUS for the inspiration.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I've always wanted to know Califa.
You know lots of pics and a report ADVrider style is a must

Day 3, 6 and 8 will be long rides. Yosemite to Death Valley assuming you go over Tioga Pass and pickup 395 south will be exhausting since the majority of it is over 5,000 feet elevation with a peak at 9,947 feet.
If you want a riding buddy for one of the days, let me know and I can probably swing up, over or down to. I'm pretty centrally located to your destinations on days 1-6/7.

Thanks for the tips!
I'm still working out the kinks in the plan and should probably throttle back some as I am planning to go solo. It would be cool if a bunch of us could trek it I was planning on Tioga pass to 395.
Marm, take a day or two and ride up on 1-2. We'll skip the garden if its too foo-fu.

By the way, I guide adventure tours in and around the Sierra Nevada if you need some tips for must-hike trails along your route... I won't even charge you.
