Slllllipppery Accelerator when wet...Help!
Boy o Boy, I almost was rear-ended when I attempted to pull out onto traffic and my foot slipped right off the accelerator pedal!!! Scary! I live in the Adirondacks in upstate NY and the roads here are pretty much snowy most of the year. I just traded in my CRV for an HRV and had no idea the pedals were these slick metal pedals. The brake has some nubs that somewhat keeps a wet foot in place, but the accelerator is one slick slippery little thing that I can't seem to keep my foot on when its wet and snowy. I went to Honda and asked them to switch the pedals to rubber to make it safer to drive and they said the accelerator is "riveted"on and cannot be replaced. It would not be cost effective to trade in so soon so I am SOL and stuck with these pedals. I went on a few car forums and some people are putting rubber bands on them for more traction or using skateboard sticky tape for gripping. Does anyone have a suggestion? This metal pedal is the pits in snow, I've never had a problem with rubber pedals, these things should only be for people out west or where it doesn't snow.
