Re: what does cr-z stand for?
ok ok ok now i dont know what one to believe i think ep3 ftw was the correct one but if this is a "model" of the crx then it would just need to replace the z with something...

Re: what does cr-z stand for?
I always thought it was either Compact Renaissance Experimental or Civic Renaissance Experimental. Similar to the naming of the NSX. But to be honest, I've never seen or heard anything official from Honda. Do you have any info, or just 10 grand?

Re: what does cr-z stand for?
I hate my life I just typed every thing I was about to say and I pressed back on the Damn phone ugggh so here I go again.so 1984 was the first year crx made. The reason for the crx is because Honda was not selling any civic in the previous years so they made a sporty version of the civic which was your 2 seatter 3 door hatch. It's the model x version of the civic. I had a 1986 crx back in the 90 when I was a teen and on the back of The crx it had a civic badge on the rear passengers side on the hatch its self. And of course crx on the tail lights. Even now I have a 91 crx Si and on my insurance its classified as a civic. I'm not 100% correct on this but I think the crx was the first Si or it was the prelude.but i think it was the crx. Where is my 10th Gs

Re: what does cr-z stand for?
Since it's the next generation of the CRX, Honda wanted to go one letter designation up the alphabet, which would have made it the CRY. Obviously not a good name, so they skipped Y and went to Z.
True story.
True story.

No. It's last letter "z" was used since the car is not based off any platform. It's built from ground "zero" as a compact sport hybrid. The crx was based off the civic platform hince the relation. That came direct from a crz engineer this morning at the press release I went to.
