Plugs into you mama, like me. haha
HAHAHAHA!!!
I'd like an Insight. Most of my driving is boring highway miles. All I need is a cupholder and a CD player.

Somehow I'm thinking you changed your story because it was really a gay dude that pulled up to you and told you he liked the "Insight"

Zeus Autoworks also modified a 2010 Insight:
I still think the Mugen looks better:
I have been seriously contemplating the Mugen aero package (minus the wing).

I truck-stop scaled my car (I know - not the most accurate), and with 1/3 tank of gas it was 2640 without me.
Now in today's standard, that is a light car. Plus, it has the highest IIHS rating you can get. So a ~2700lb sedan that fairly comfortable for all four passengers AND gets 5 out of 5 starts for crash test rating, that is a commendable accomplishment.
For comparison, an equivalent weight Civic Sedan (1996-2000 Sedan) got a 2.5 out of 5 IIHS rating and had an EPA rating of 31mpg combined.
With some better aero it should be capable of ~50mpg combined without going on a diet. Not bad.

Re: Insight is a chick magnet!
It still doesn't get over the fact that it is a 2700lb vehicle with only 90hp. You get 5 average size individuals in there, and we're easily looking at over 3600lbs. Then if you were to put any luggage in the trunk...yikes.
If they somehow were able to build it lighter, we'd only see an increase in fuel mileage as well as make insignificant the power issue.

It does have enough go in it to merge successfully on the freeway without having to go full throttle, even when loaded with people.
If I wanted to give joyrides for the purpose of blissful acceleration I would drive the Supra or GT-R to work, but then I would have to deal with the 80 miles of highway for the commute, and would most certainly end up with a few speeding tickets.

Oh I can understand that, I just feel that in the eyes of the American public, hybrids are still too expensive, too heavy, and too slow.
If they can somehow overcome these drawbacks, they may become more popular.

However, Honda has attempted to at least break down the myth of expense with the new Insight. Its starting point is less than fully equipped Civics, which most consider the popular economy compact.
I am waiting to see how the new Honda CR-Z performs. I think it will break down both the dollar, weight and speed myths presented by current hybrid vehicles. If it performs like it looks, we could have a winner...

Re: Insight is a chick magnet!
the CR-Z wont outshine the insight in my opinion....
CR-Z is a very small 2 door which will probobly only see a slight performance increase vs. the insight. the problem is most people in the market for a "hybrid" dont look for characteristics like performance....they look for things like cargo room, crash test ratings, and how many the vehicle can comfortably seat. Also the insight has the hybrid "look" which alot of hybrid consumers like because it flaunts the fact that they are "green". The Insight outshines the CR-Z in every aspect except the possibility of performance and asthetically pleasing sporty looks. not to say the insight isnt a great looking car as it stands though...
my opinion is the CR-Z will flop if offered as a hybrid.... there just simply cannot be enough of a market for "performance hybrids" to justify a vehicle like this.

Power doesn't just refer to over-the-top performance.
Allegedly, the CR-Z has about 140hp, which is a significant increase over the Insight; nearly a 50% increase in power. I'm curious as to the ability of developing a dohc vtec engine hybrid motor system. With that, we could easily see a 1.8L 170hp+ hybrid vehicle. However, I do suppose that the fuel economy would suffer.

Re: Insight is a chick magnet!
I disagree. I feel the average consumer looks for safety and power. Power, not so much in terms of sports-car-like-performance, but rather, "power" as a measure of safety. A slow car is a dangerous car, in an urban environment. Even in my old em2, I absolutely hated when the person in front of me would come to a complete stop when merging onto the highway, because I knew it would take me a good 9-10 seconds to get up to highway speeds.

well if honda can manage to muster up 140 horsepower for such a small vehicle it may appeal to a younger market although to that market the word "hybrid" is a taboo..... but i still feel it wont do well since its not a practical family car...
