cr-z good or bad to buy

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
Test drive one first. Blind spots for sure. Rear view out back is limited. I hate scraping the front air dam on everything. Not very performance oriented if I were to be asked, to slow. Glad its my wifes car....she likes being shown a full green tree when the cars turned off. But not that great mpg for 2011. Cloth seats only....really?!?

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
i dont feel like the car serves the purpose it is marketed for...
i drove one and it's too slow to be a "sporty" hatch, and i didnt feel connected through turns. i'm sure with work it could be great. but it'd be easier if honda didnt make it an uphill battle in order to get this car to perform great. a 2 seater needs to be a performance car...somewhat at least from the factory
yet it doesnt get GREAT mileage for a hybrid...it just gets around the same mpg as any other hybrid, and theres no backseats...
if honda could refine the "sporty" side of the crz better, they need to offer like an "si" or "type r" version of the cr-z and most importantly make it available to the U.S as well as all other continents
i'd be sold.

I have own my for 11 months and 26,000 Miles and I HATE IT lol....
after 80mph cant change lanes or cut thru cars because it feels like you are going to loose traction.
gas mileage suck badly !
Sport Mode ? its fun to see the red light come on thinking your going to hit crazy boost but no nothing happen just over rev engine LOL.
Track, MMmm not to fun I did ran a 15.1 on the 1/4 mile... but it doesnt feel like a older honda fun...
Looks, If you look at it from the front looks sexy as hell people would stare at it then they see the back and there like WTF !! **** looks gay!
only thing I like is the interrior, cool dash board doesnt look cheap, mine has navi so sound sytem is really good sound better then my brothers 10 bmw 535i... Navi is one of the best I ever used love it. seats are really nice even though they get dirty really quick.
after 26k havent experience any kind of mechanical problem or noises or anything like that it was well built in that sense... no even small squeak

i like the idea of the cr-z, but i see it for the average driver that wants extra kick and good mpg, it wont provide the "oh sh*t" feeling the older honda's give imo

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
I got in this car July of 2010 and was sadly disappointed. I found the head room at 6' (might have a longer torso than norm) to be impossible for any sort of comfort. I'd be forced to buy a aftermarket seat just to sit lower. Sadly my odyssey is faster as well. Sticking with my crx's till these come out with a K motor.

cheap *** civic is the way to go. Similar fuel economy and much more room.... For the same amount of money, you could make that civic REALLY NICE depending on the year.

the car itself looks really nice inside and out..but if ur looking for just a daily driver (hopefully thats not ur idea of a sports car) its not really my first choice..better off with newer civic sedan, way more space and backseats (and atleast theres an Si if u want a little bit of power)

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
Well...if you compare it to the CRX, which most of us are...
88 CRX Si - 1/4 mile in 16.2 sec
11 CRZ EX - 1/4 mile in 15.1 sec
That's not bad for a much safer car.
I think the 15.1 is extremely generous for the CRZ, though...so I'm just using that number as a quote. InsideLine quotes their testing at 16.5 sec

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
I like the styling of the CRZ, its like a reincarnated futuristic CRX.
I dont mind the lack of power, I love that its a stick shift...whats the downfall of the car?
Its a HYBRID and gets horrible gas mileage...
I wouldnt mind being slow and getting good MPGs but to be slow and get not so great gas mileage...no thanks.

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
- Fit Sport - better steering, not much slower, very close mpg, tons more room, more aftermarket support
- Any Civic - faster, more room, and model depending can have the same or better mpg
The CR-Zs are just boring turds IMO. I worked at a Honda dealer when they came out, and they are just not that fun to drive. I bought a 2011 Fit Sport as a DD, and compared to the CR-Z the Fit's steering is more nimble, and the Fit gets good mpg. I could have bought a CR-Z but it's simply mediocre at everything it was supposed to be good at. Sporty styling, but slow. Hybrid, but gasoline cars in the same price range can get the same fuel economy.
BTW:
Once you've worked at a dealership and you've seen all the PROBLEMS hybrids develop you'd never buy one. You are pretty much forced to go to the dealership to get it fixed, and good luck on the prices for hybrid-related repairs...

Re: cr-z good or bad to buy
for the price it's a bad buy considering it the price, mpg, and other cars available. Heck my 94 dx averages 45 mpg overall with mix of city and highway driving. However, the thing looks great but not worth the price.
