I'm trying to layout my installation. For someone who has a successfull install, where is a good place to put the ballast to keep them cool and clean?

Do a retrofit. It's a little more pricey but it looks 100x better. The glare on these kits blow. You could potentially be a hazard on the road and get a ticket for these kits.

retrofit. it is pricey. good chunk out of your wallet. you can ask JamesBizzle and RCantu about it. both of them have retrofits on their fits but both used different projectors (if i remember correctly).

i priced hid kits from $150 for low only and 250 for hi/ low. $250 seems a bit high to me but i would rather have high and low beam as opposed to just low. what kind fo price difference am i looking at with the retrofit, nad where can i find them?

Don't know about much DIY's but here's where I put the ballasts. Just take the bumper off and then take off the 4 screws that hold the headlight housing together and I put the ballast on the passenger side behind the windshield washer tank
I just zip-tied them to the bracket behind as you can probably see with the yellow ties.
and for the driver side, I tied it to the metal frame
Sorry I can't be more descriptive, but those were all the pics I really had.
My end result. I did turn the angle down a bit so that it didn't shoot into oncoming traffic as much.
Cheers

Once you go HID's you'll never want to go back. I've had HID's on my EP3 with stock and projector headlights, and when my gf first got the Fit, I almost cried because I couldn't see **** in front of me... then I installed 6000k HID's on hers and aimed it down a bit and now we're both slap happy sappy~
Also, when driving a car with no HID's, it will seem like there aren't any lights on at all... Drove my company truck out one night to move some stuff and was playing with the highbeam all the time because it seemed so dark with regular halogens~

Have to be careful about hi/lo HID's for the Fit though... There are a few different styles of hi/lo. One style, (cheaper since 2nd bulb isn't HID) is the 2 bulb. The high beam is just a small halogen bulb on the side that lights up when you hit the hi-beam. Another is the slider (usually more expensive) where a mechanism slides a tube forward/back over the bulb to create a higher/lower beam. Those are the 2 main ones that I know of, if anyone else has comments....
