Since my car got jacked, I don't have time to wait for the Fit to come in so I bought an 06 Civic Ex 5 spd Sedan today. After purchasing my car through the fleet manager (Bo), he told me they plan on marking the Fit price tag up about 2k. I got my Sedan for the same price Honda.com advertises it at

So am I, even if there is a bump from the dealer its still a great price for a great car. Its been out since 2001 in japan so you know they have worked out most of its problems if not all of them.

That's going to be a mistake.
After the publicity related to west coast dealers and the Civic Si, it's possible Honda might finally have to get its dealer organisation in line.

Is getting a car at MSRP a good thing? I know that around here, people are already getting 1000$+ off MSRP.

This is all I needed to hear. I wonder what the Invoice is on this car, not that this is a bad price at all. Oh and whenever Honda says a car is gonna be between two prices, just assume its gonna be almost at the higher price hehe.

Well the the prices i got are copied directly from Honda's IN network from the dealers. And along the bottom it notes that the destination and handles fees not included
550.00 plus a 49.00 gas fee. So you can plan to add at least 600.00 for that.

I was thinking abou trying to get a Fit, but now after seeing the actual prices, and knowing how dealers are, I think I'll aim for a used EP3 instead.

We can only wait and see what the dealers will do.
The last time i was at the honda training center in Weston the instructor told me that anyone can go into a honda dealer and pay msrp for the car with the handle fee of course.
At a dealer im miami they had one of the first S2000's sell for 48k because the idiot really thought it was only going to be made for one year!

Do you guys think there will be a lot of demand for the Fit? I mean, I remember when the Scion line was coming out with the xA and xB, there was a bunch of hype, and now (atleast here in ithaca Ny), I don't see that many, I've seen maybe 10 xBs total and 5 xAs.

Just because you haven't seen many? That's never an accurate way to gauge how well a car is selling.
All 3 scions are selling extremely well. In fact, they fill 3 of the top 10 hottest selling cars.

That list is a joke. How can the Pontiac Solstice and the Mini cooper be the hottest selling car? And on top of that, besides the Civic, none of the cars listed are high volume selling cars.

seems pretty accurate to me. Pontiac has more orders filled and deposits left for the solstice than they can keep up with. Mini's have been great sellers since they were first released. It's impossible to get one for anything less than sticker and you will pay more in many cases.
The scions are all huge sellers. All the scion dealers around here never seem to have more than 4 or 5 on hand at any given time, except for XA's which aren't so popular around here.
Anyway, I'm pretty glad the sport is only 15,1 for the manual. It would have been cool to see it go for 14.5 or so, but I'm sure it will sell. That price puts it right smack in scion XB price point, which having been in both cars, seems like a good car to compare the fit too, aside from looks.
Hopefully the dealer will have some manuals available to test drive when they come out.

You're confusing volume sellers versus in demand cars. A "hot" car is defined by the amount of days (or lack thereof) that the car stays on the dealer lot before it is sold. Cars with a short "lot life" are in high demand; and one usually cannot get any discounts on these types of cars.

I think the Fits will FLY out of the showrooms for the first 6-9 months. I wouldn't consider buying one until a year after its intro here.
$13.8k is a bit higher than I expected for the base model--I guess it's taking the Civic's place. in their lineup now that the Civic sedan is a mini Volvo.

Out here, where scions came out a year before they went National, you couldnt keep them on the lot for more than two weeks. And its still like that here. I think the Fit will probably have similar success out here.
